DS got notice today he has been awarded a NROTC scholarship but he was not accepted into the school he was assigned(in state). Anyone care to offer their opinion as to weather he has a chance to have it reassigned(to a school out of state)

better than 50/50 if the school he DID get into has NROTC, and is also in-state. Better than 75% if the new school is also in the same Consortium i.e. whatever Navy calls a Brigade == in other words is in the same Regional budget.

They're not trying to cut him loose... they will try to find a college home where he can fulfill his desire to commission. You must formally petition the NETC.

You might want to try and send a letter of appeal to the admissions board at whatever university he got denied from. Seeing as he was awarded a full scholarship to said university, I would say he has a pretty strong case for them to reconsider his admissions decision. Being from California, I know a couple of people who submitted letters of appeal to a couple of the UC schools and I know at least one of them had their rejection reversed to admission. Bottom line is it can't hurt.

I would add to semperfi's comments that you should also contact the unit. Some units can assist in this, other's can't Maybe you'll get lucky on that front. I would pursue this and the transfer in parallel. Get Navy to assist where possible.
