Strategic Sealift Officer Program
From: Strategic Sealift Officer Program Manager
Subject: Authorization to Wear the Strategic Sealift Officer Warfare Insignia
SSOs,
The attached memo provides direction for the wearing and earning of the Strategic Sealift Officer (SSO) Warfare Insignia (WI). The SSO WI, unlike its predecessor, requires the completion of a Personnel Qualifications Standards (PQS) for newly commissioned officers. RESPERSMAN 1534-060 is being routed for signature and will provide policy superseding this memo upon release. All SSOs are directed to read the memo. No newly commissioned SSO will be authorized to wear the SSO WI, nor are any cadet/midshipmen authorized to wear the SSO WI. The former MMR qualifications insignia is no longer authorized for wear by any personnel, to include cadet/midshipmen. Questions are to be directed to the SSO Program Office.
