Hi all,

I'm just curious about the process for DoDMERB. I received an AROTC Scholarship around April 12th and had an official letter in my possession around April 16th. Today I scheduled my appointments for June since this month is extremely packed. My question to you all is, will June be acceptable for final acceptance of the scholarship? I couldn't seem to find any information on the deadlines for medical evals.

No info from me, but I'm sure your detatchment would have that information or would know where you can find it. Congrats on the scholarship and best wishes for smooth sailing through DoDMERB. :thumb:

Packed?

Packed? Packed with what? All of us are busy with "senior" things. But if I were you, I'd make time sooner rather than later for this. You never know what might pop up that may require a remedial. And those take time. Time to gather records, or go to more apps, etc. Qualifying medically is huge. Many scholarship winners have seen their hopes dashed by a DQ. Just make the appt. it's easy and a no brainier.

I have to agree with txpotato.

JMPO, I would push that date up to this week or next. This forum is littered with posters that never knew they had a medical issue until they went for their DoDMERB exam.

If you get a remedial, or a DQ, you can't contract. If paying/selecting a college is reliant on the scholarship, why wait?

You do realize the sequester is on? That means many civilians that are a DoD employee, including those at HQ AROTC granting waivers will be furloughed 14 days between now and Sept 30th.

Imagine the possible slowdown.

I just can't see anything that is so important in a schedule not to carve out 1-2 hrs in this week when on the low end 50K scholarship is at risk. College bursars will acknowledge your AROTC scholarship, but won't pay it until you contract. What if you have an unknown medical issue...can you afford to attend the college without the scholarship?

A DQ can take 3 weeks, 3 months or 6 months. 6 months from June will be your finals for fall semester, if there is no waiver, the bursar will lock that account. You will not be able to register until you pay that bill. Is that the stress you want?

I am only saying this because I think you are in it for today, and not looking at what tomorrow will be. Maybe you play Lacrosse, tennis or track and are going to states. I get that, but can you really say you can't go to the docs at 8 a.m. and come into school at 10? I doubt there are matches daily, practices, yes, meets, no. Tell the coach I have to miss one and go after school. You won't be the 1st, nor the last.

What you think as packed, is not as packed as you will think in Oct. if you are fighting a remedial or DQ. It is a stress you don't want to have. Do it this week, and you are a month more in the system than if you wait.
