MY DS received both AFROTC and AROTC scholarships. We are very grateful. He was DQed for Athsma.

AFROTC made a waiver request, asked for a Spirometry, before and after inhaler. The test was sent in and subsequently AFROTC now shows waiver granted.

He really wants the AROTC scholarship (1st choice school doesn't have AFROTC), but the website still says " Pending Waiver Submission/Review".

Does AROTC just take longer? Has it been anyone's experience that AROTC will not request waiver, or deny waiver, where AFROTC has approved?

Just looking for a little sunshine here.

Thanks!

The granting of the waiver is up to the service. It is certainly conceivable to me the AROTC would not grant a waiver for asthma when AFROTC would. They are entirely different field environments. None of this is to say that AROTC will not grant a waiver. Perhaps someone here more familiar with AROTC and the waiver process than I will make some suggestions on how you can determine the status of the waiver.

Mitemom, I have been in contact with CC. Super nice folks and very informative. On their plate right now is....
Helping cadets clear medical issues that popped up during the school year.
Preparing waiver reviews for cadets going to various trainings like LDAC etc..
FYI, the folks that help process the medical waivers are also the ones that process all of the other waivers, moral, legal and the such.
The person I spoke to implied that incoming college freshmen packets will be considered after these other more time sensitive matters are completed. DS "pending medial waiver/review" as been posted since 02/15/2013.:frown:

Thanks for the bit of insight. My DS ""pending medical waiver/review" has only been there since 4/12/2013. So we wait.

Thanks for this info Sheriff, it answers a few questions I had. Rather than CC (National) I had contacted the folks at the college ROTC program (Army in my DS's case) and found the medical 'clerk' helpful and willing to interact with CC to try to move things along. Unfortunately, the ROTC people are also up to their eyes right now with graduation/ commissioning stuff. I'm just anxious to have the waiver in-hand before we start sending big checks to this out-of-state school.

DD's AROTC status of "pending medical waiver/review" has been since March 16, 2013. The wait continues.

Belle and Sheriff3 It looks like you are both a bit a head of us in the waiting line. Once your status changes, would you please post here so I can be on the look out? Thanks!
