ROTC This Fall

This fall I will be attending Virginia Tech on a 4 year army ROTC scholarship. I haven't heard anything from Fort knox since I recieved my scholarship.

-When will I hear back again about this fall?

-What do I need to purchase before? Do I need to get boots like the academies? thanks

You probably will not hear further from Fort Knox unless it's in regard to DoDMERB stuff. Future communications will undoubtedly come from the Corps of Cadet at VT. You might try contacting them to get answers to your questions but normally boots are issued to you.

You get all of your lovely contracting paperwork over the summer don't you? (for 4 year scholarships)

Welcome to Cadet Land, enjoy your stay.

I am a MSIII, 3rd year cadet in the AROTC program over here at Old Dominon University, so we are fairly close.. We have done lots of work with the VT Program, seems to be a top program.

You won't hear anything from Fort Knox, I don't know why you would, the contracting paperwork should be given in your scholarship packet and should be filled out accordingly before the fall semester, if no paperwork is sent then take it up with your Cadre, I am sure they can get everything in order for you.

You do not need to purchase anything, you will be issued a pair of ACU's, Boots, for your 4 years. You will turn in your ACU's at the end of each semester, you can keep the boots and most of the PT equipment, except for the Winter PT Jacket/Winter Pants.

Just prepare yourself physically for what is to come, and make sure to get that 300+ on that first initial diagnostic APFT, it will make you look a lot better on the MSI chart.
