For...you guessed it: Sexual Battery

LINK

Plus, from the picture it looks like he had a pretty rough time of it.

You just can't make this stuff up.

I just keep thinking about how when he was being driven away in the police car they would probably drive right by the Pentagon. How that for him had to be in his mind.

That's all I could do when I saw this news story. Granted everyone's innocent until proven guilty, but there is no way around the fact that just the story itself puts the AF (and really all the Services) in a bad light.

kp,

I agree it places a bad light on the AF, especially when this comes on the heels of the AF Lackland members making news lately for their sentences.

I think he was/is a stupid drunk. This leaves more questions for me. What was his BAC. This occurred in Crystal City, and he could have taken a metro, but I don't think he was since it occurred in a parking garage. Assuming he was in the garage to retrieve his car, than who let this guy out of the bar/restaurant? If he was by himself, the bartender could be facing problems if he was visibly drunk and they continued to serve. If he was with a group, than why did they let him walk away without pouring them into a taxi?

Nobody flame me, his actions if proven true were wrong. I am just pulling on the thread to understand how he got to that level, and in that position.

Good on the woman, she illustrated self defense comes in handy.

I wonder if he has already been reassigned to Bolling or Andrews AFB.

If due process is granted and the charges of sexual battery sticks, what are the repercussions? Demotion?
Is there jail time involved?
Besides wondering if he's been reassigned elsewhere?
How should his superiors react?

I agree. I also think it places a bad light more on the AFA. Why give cadets 2nd and 3rd chances or why give they an offer at all if other more deserving kids have a clean record.

Pima, I agree with the bartender but also you are assuming he didn't know this female or heard on another news report the female didn't see him before this issue. They may have met a bar, a dance place, been friend and he went overboard while she was getting into the car. And of course it could be a random he jumped a female he saw in the parking lot. Guilty or not he shouldn't be in the Air Force if this happens, similar to the cadets or applicants applying the AFA they too should be kicked out.

This isn't a military thing, its a society issue, this happens at government and civilian/corporate offices too.

You are right, I made an assumption, but again it is why I have more questions.

Punishment

This happened off duty and off base so unless local cops want to defer punishment to the military he will be tried in civilian court. If he is tried in military court it would be a court martial offence. Typically officer don't get demoted, they get much worse than that.

That said will be investigated by his commander to determine if his conduct was unbecoming of an officer. If found guilty he will face reprimand which effectively ends his military career.

Pretty much the mood in the AF hallways of the building today are: YGBSM! :unhappy:

("You've Got to Be Spoofing Me", and we ain't using the word "Spoofing")

Pretty embarrassed for my service, shaking my head on how we can have some folks so stupid as this. From the looks of his mug-shot, I say he got a small taste of what he deserves (if the story is true), and an even smaller taste of what he can expect. Bugsy, his career ain't over yet if he is guilty. Not by a long shot. He'll first have to spend some time being called "Prisoner Number XXXX" rather than "Sir" at Ft Leavenworth before his career will be over. What he "allegedly" did is called "assault", and yes the military will prosecute him for it even if he was in civilian clothes on "his time". He's in the military, there is no "his time", it's all "our time".

CSAF was on the Hill today testifying, wonder how that went with hitting the major news outlets today. Not looking forward to briefing him later today, I'm sure he isn't going to be in a good mood...

That is true when its happens but there are so many more good people in the service who do the right things every day. You will always have outlliers in any organization. A lot of times its people think they are above it all and that they can get away with it.

I have a feeling he'll feel the full force of military justice - especially after THIS story made the news only a few weeks ago.
