So I'm applying to UNG June 2nd, right after the end of my junior year. Wondering what my chances were for the Corps of Cadets! I'll also list UNG as my #1 on the AROTC scholarship.

I have a 3.85 GPA for my career, I'm in the top 20% of my class. I scored a 29 composite on the ACT,

I was recently elected Secretary of my school's National Honor Society, and also served as a Supervisor and Community Service coordinator. I have lots of community service, and over 85 hours of internship at my local fire department. I also served as a church altar boy in middle school, and I'm a district placer in BPA (Business Professionals of America).

I have a Varsity letter for tennis, along with 2 years of football and 1 year of basketball. I'm a part of my school's Muay Thai club. I also work out regularly and run local trail runs. I also will be getting a part time job this summer, and I can pass the PFT.

I'm so excited for the future at UNG! I've been in contact with their Director of Admissions and PMS asking questions. Both seemed very helpful, I can't wait to be part of the Boar's Head Brigade (hopefully)!

I don't know too much about UNG, but I'd imagine that you'd get into the Corps of Cadets no problem. For the Army ROTC, you should be very competitive. I personally think you have a very good chance.

Nick, you definitely have the grades & ACT score to be accepted to UNG Corp of Cadets. My son applied and was accepted with slightly lower scores than yours. We visited UNG last February. It was a very impressive University with a great Army ROTC program. My son struggled with his decision as to which college he wanted to attend. While my son ultimately decided to attend VMI, he considered UNG very heavily. If you're an out-of-state student in the Corp at UNG you'll pay in-state tuition. The University and surrounding area are very nice if you like small towns. The ROTC program is very well run and their admissions folks are great people. I'd suggest retaking the ACT and/or SAT to improve your chances for an Advanced Army 4yr ROTC scholarship which I hope you're going to apply for. They are very competitive to get and a higher ACT score would help if you can do it. Good luck on your college selection journey. Also, take a look at their Summer Language Institute (SLI) program if you're going to study a foreign language for your degree plan. Some degrees require 1-2 years of foreign language credits. The SLI program is a great way to get some college credits the summer before you attend and would give you a chance to experience UNG and the area before you started classes full time in the Fall. It's very affordable and you can earn up to 9 foreign language credits. Ask the admissions about it.

Awesome Bryson, congrats to your son, I can't wait to experience UNG and Dahlonega!

SLI

DS will be attending the SLI and is taking Arabic. Was just notified he rec's scholarship to attend which pays for room and board. DS is currently at Basic Trng/AIT at Ft. Benning and graduates May 24.

Is he majoring or minoring in Arabic?

No...

Is he majoring or minoring in Arabic?

DS is actually a Criminal Justice major. But SLI is a great opportunity and as someone said earlier you will earn 9 language credits which would fulfill that requirement.
