This is graduation weekend in DC for The George Washington University.

I'm walking today and interestingly enough, will be joined by my USCGA classmate, and Swab Summer roommate.

To take it one step further, our other classmate and fellow Swab Summer Yankee-1 member graduated yesterday.

Needless to say, the old Swab Summer stories began immediately once he got into DC from Boston.

Your classmates don't go away. I'm out of the Coast Guard. He's in. And for the second time in 7 years, we will walk across the stage together (but this time looking for like grads).

Congrats and sorry to have missed seeing you. I was there for my DD's grad. (not to mention Adm Allen's )

Right, they gave Adm. Allen an honorary degree... which was interesting because he already had a GW degree.

What program was your DD in?

School of Public Health; Exercise Sci. She is heading to Nursing school next.
We were pleased the weather held off as much as it did. Quite a setting for the ceremony!

That's great! I was at the Graduate School of Political Management ceremony Saturday night. Didn't head to the Mall ceremony, but my friends seemed to have a good time. Agree about the backdrop.

I was just excited to get a GW medal. First medal I've received since 2011!

I know I've said it before, but I need to say it again, GW is great with its veterans. Make sense, if you're in DC and there's such a concentration of military members, that's some good $$ waiting to be snatched up. But they do do a great job working with vets and making the GI Bill process easy.

The medal is a nice bit of hardware. I understand the mall ceremony is unique to GW and that the diploma is one of only two or three schools that will have the Congressional Seal (rather than a State Seal) owing to the DC location. Am awaiting the diploma to arrive to see what the spouse and I paid for!

I only see the GW seal on mine.

I did find it interesting that a private school like GW would have the line "by virtue and authority granted by the United States of America".... even my CGA diploma doesn't have that...

Although at the bottom of my CGA diploma it does have a VERY small "Bureau of Engraving and Printing"

Was just in DC Friday for a field trip with my class....walking by the Mall I saw a stage with the GW banner and a LOT of chairs...figured that it was graduation. Looks like I was right! :shake:

Congrats to your DD, JMS, and congratulations to you too, LITS!
