My USNA application wants a brief explanation of my ethnic/racial heritage. What should I include in this?
 
Whatever your ethnic or racial heritage is... If you're 1/16 native american or 1/32 black, put it.

I'm 100% white to the bone, so I remember I put a sentence or two about my Irish-American heritage that I could trace back to the virginia bay colony.
 
So this can be very brief? I am also 100% white. That is why I really don't know what to put.
 
I seem to recall mine as fairly brief, a description of how all my ancestors had come over long before Ellis Island or something along those lines, as I too am 100% white.
 
I did this today too (and am also all white), so I put down the general time period most of my family came over, as well as all the countries my great grandparents etc were from.

On a similar note, does anyone know what exactly the Academic Information contact we have to put down does? Is that the person who is supposed to send a transcript, or submit a written report on how I do academically? As in, should I send it to a school administrator whom I do not really know but sends everyone's transcripts, or to my advisor who knows me very well and can write a good general recommendation?

It's not a recommendation. It's just the school profile. Put whoever has easy access to that information. Probably the school college counselors.
