Possible Track Recruit?

Alright, so I run track (surprise surprise) and i was a little curious as to my chances of being able to get recruited by USNA for sprints. So I went to their track and field page and looked at their Season Performance List and there I see that if i were ranked in their 100m dash, I'd be 3rd (my fastest is 11.00).

It's pretty confidence boosting if you guys ask me. What do you guys think? I'm also a state qualifier for the 100m and the 4x100 (which we are ranked 2nd in the state in x] ).

You can talk to USNA's coach as long as you're a junior in HS. I'd recommend shooting him/her an e-mail or having your own coach do it for you. Doesn't have to be long -- just that you're very interested in USNA and want to know about the possibility of recruitment. Be prepared with perhaps a spreadsheet of the races you ran with accompanying times.

If you're able to be recruited, do it. Being recruited for a varsity sport is the easiest route for appointment. If the academy wants you, they'll make sure they get you.

I am no expert in track times but if you want to get looked at by the track coaches do not be afraid to contact them. If possible put together video footage of a couple of your races with times. Also send in your current GPA and an unofficial transcript, any PSAT/SAT or ACT test scores you have taken. If your scores are great and they like what they see in other areas you could peak their interest enough that they contact you. Also don't forget to register in the NCAA clearinghouse if you do want to pursue track in college.

Send the coach an email, they'll get back to you pretty quick. You might as well ask if you're up for a recruit slot, they'll be pretty clear with you. If you can, set up a meeting with the coach, I'm meeting with one at NASS (for distance).
