For recent years, what have been the average LDAC PT scores for securing an Active Duty slot? I know 300+ is the goal, and almost everyone in my battalion eventually is scoring in the 290's at least by their junior year (lots of Infantry branched JO'S and a few SF O-4's are in our cadre), but what is the middle 50%-ish ground for AD? I go to an SMC, so I'm theoretically guaranteed AD anyway, I just don't want to be THAT guy that isn't the best PT'er......

Thank ya'll....

Certainly you want to do as well as you can on the APFT at LDAC. But the test's impact on the Order of Merit Score has been reduced, as indicated in the following excerpt from a recent Cadet Command article.

"In addition, physical fitness tests done on campus during a Cadet's junior year in the program now are worth 7 percent, up from 4.05 percent. Weight for the PT test at LDAC was lowered to 6.5 percent from 9.45 percent."

The difference between getting a 250 APFT and a 300 APFT at LDAC would amount to about 1.1 OMS points, which should not necessarily make or break your AD chances. Of more significance is (a) what else you achieve at LDAC and (b) the "body of work" you have accomplished in your prior three years, including (i) GPA and (ii) prior APFTs and (iii) accomplishments as evaluated by the PMS and the cadre.

Yeah I though SMCs were guaranteed AD slots? Oh well, show up prepared and do not aim for the minimum! You'll be fine, after all, you go to the Citadel! :thumb:

Active duty is guaranteed at SMC's, providing you get the recommendation from the PMS.

And the overwhelming vast majority get the waiver, at least at The Citadel with our current PMS. I know it's a long way off but I was just a little concerned about the PT standard for AD officers, so many make it seem as if the minimum score is 300....

260-275 is camp average. When sergeants replaced LTs the PT test scores went up on a average of 10 points.

Was it as bad as everyone says it was with the ridiculous PT grading for LDAC? From what I've heard from both cadre and MS-4's it was almost comical it was so brutal.....

Everyone apparently was doing this after the APFT: :banghead:

As a leader, you obviously want to set a standard for your soldiers in PT, so of course you should strive for a 300. That should be your minimum. Not saying its make or break, but everyone should strive for a 300.
