Informations needed

I don't know if it's the good place to post but I need to get some informations about the USNA.
I apologize if the informations needed can be found somewhere else.

No, I'm not really asking for my chances as my thread is more general and yes I read all the stickies.


First, let me introduce myself: I'm an american citizen (native french) living in Paris. I just completed my first year at the best law uni in France and I'd like to apply for USNA. I will turn 19 in december.

I got few problems:

-As I'm not living in the US is the VP nom the only way to get a nom ? My father is from PA, can I apply for a nom with PA MoG and PA senators ?

-I passed with good grades the french SAT (= baccalauréat) will I have to take the SAT/ACT ?

-Is my year at uni make me more competitive ?

-Do I need to do others things to apply ?

-Am I competitive as I speak french/english and few spanish ?

-Have you ever seen candidate like me ?

-I have an appointment at the US Embassy in France to get my SSN. Will I need to ask them something else ?

If your father declares you as a dependent on his taxes, I think the answer is yes.

I passed with good grades the french SAT (= baccalauréat) will I have to take the SAT/ACT ?

You should if at all possible. The French SAT will not be meaningful to USNA.

A tiny bit for maturity. You might also get a bit of a bump for your international experience. However, not a huge deal.

Not sure what you mean. You need to be as competitive as possible --athletics, sports and leadership.

Not a huge plus. Small one if you're fluent.

Are you a US citizen? Assume so.

It's somewhat difficult to answer open-ended questions b/c we don't "know" you. The more specific ones . . . someone here can probably help.

You need to figure out how to make your French educational background meaningful to USNA. If your transcript is in French, consider having it professionally translated. Find teachers/profs who are fluent in English to submit recommendations. IOW, make it easy on USNA to understand what you bring to the table. Don't assume that, just b/c you're in France, USNA will be jumping up and down to get you (not saying you ARE assuming this). You need to make yourself a terrific candidate who happens to live in France.

Finally, be prepared to explain over and over why you want to attend USNA. Seriously.

Hum, don't know.. He lives in France since I was born. He doesn't pay taxes.

I was wondering because in some uni you directly go to year 2 with a French SAT.

Copy that. I got a few experiences in sport (golf-handicap 17//Basketball-Paris champion etc) Yes, french guys can play basketball

Are you talking about my highschool teachers ? Coz' in uni it's a hard path to talk to a prof.
I might ask my math teacher, I had very good grades.. Maybe she will help as she is a very known prof within the EU (she had her PhD in Columbia and worked at the CERN).

If your father does not declare the US as his legal country of residence for tax and other purposes, I would be surprised if you could get an MOC nom. I would check with the Nominations folks in USNA Admissions to be sure.

You could use teacher recs from your h.s. teachers or college profs. Since you're unlikely to have an "English" teacher/prof, I would again consult Admissions regarding what would be an acceptable alternative.
