So I received an email from the guy who represents the cadet candidates from my area saying that most of our first step application stuff will open in July. But, do I have to wait until July to complete some of the objectives he laid out in the email such as Nominations, letters of recommendation... etc. ? Keep in mind that I am in between my junior and senior year.

Remember, as was posted for you in another thread, the nomination applications run concurrently with the West Point app at this point in time. Start working on the nomination NOW.

How, you ask? Sign into college board and pay to have your existing scores sent to the SAT/ACT codes for your two senators and your house rep. Get your counselor to send transcripts to each. And, most importantly, because time is a factor, figure out who you want to write your recommendation letters and contact them and get the working on it. On that same note your Senator/house rep may have a recommendation FORM that needs to be completed in lieu of/conjunction with the LOR's. Check the website.

You really need to go to the websites for each of your MOC's. many of your questions will be answered by their instructions.

ETA - this can be a little confusing, but USNA and West Point do not require Letters of Recommendation. Rather, when the second step opens up, you will enter the name and email address of 2/3 teachers (English and math, plus science for WP. They will then send in their School Official Evaluation directly to the service academy. LOR's for noms can be from coaches, scout leaders, etc. It's best to give them the name and address of each MOC so they can crank out the same letter to all three and you don't have to go back to the well several times. And don't forget to provide them with the Recommendation Form if required.

In regards to MOC noms, I think it is best to send in all the information that they request at one time and not piecemeal.
I also suggest that you wait until after school starts to send these in.
MOCs noms are not rolling so earlier is not necessarily better.
You may have some things to add to your file once school starts such as a new leadership position, Captain of a sport, summer work experience, etc. Some MOCs don't allow updates so it is best to wait and send in your MOC nom apps closer to their deadlines. Go on each MOC website and make note of their deadlines and don't miss them!

For those that qualify for a Presidential nom - different story.
Apply for that now!

Very good advice for timing!

One more question! I have already begun working on my Vice Presidential Nom application, but I cannot for the life of me find the Presidential Nom form ANYWHERE online! All that comes up when I search is the VP form...

The presidential nomination request form is on your portal under the nomination tab. That one is for military dependents - you'd need to attach a copy of a parent's service to the request and send it to your admissions officer.

Gotcha. I am a military dependent, so I will definitely apply.
