fitness test for ROTC

The fitness test for Army ROTC is not the CFA, right? Ive done a search and cant find exactly what it is instead. can anyone provide a link?

I saw that the APFT is a two mile run, but I thought for the ROTC scholarship application it is a 1 mile run.

My son who is just finished junior yr of highschool is looking into applying for an ROTC scholarship but we cant find the standards for the application fitness test, but we can find the standards for the APFT.

Are they the same?

He took a practice PFT and was good to go.

You say "Don't get too hung up on the PFT score. It doesn't carry a lot of weight." what carries the most weight?

He has a 3.5 unweighted GPA (4.2 weighted) and a 35 composite ACT (not superscored).
Multiple sport athlete (boxing, wresting, hockey)
lots of ECs. he is a good interviewer from years on Model UN as well as Scholastic Bowl.


His concern is passing the medical standards (color blind, past history of seasonal allergies but he outgrew them at about age 10, bb lodged in his hand-from shooting gophers :rolleyes:, wrestlers ear/ cauliflower now ear corrected, broken foot in second grade no pins or surgeries) :confused:

to your knowledge (and no one is holding you to it) are the above deal breakers?

The ARMY really does look at the whole person, each section of Academics/Leadership/Atletics carry weight. A well rounded application is great, if he is lacking in one area, another can bring him back up.

The color blindness will most likely be the biggest issue, al lot depends on which colors. The broken fook should not be an issue since there are no pins in his foot. Seasonal allergies since it stopped when he was 10 should be OK, never can be sure.

He has a very good ACT, one thing to remember, the Army does superscore the ACT, they will take the highest score form each category from each test, so make sure he submits all the tests he has taken if doing so would raise his score.
