Early Admission Question

I had lunch with a long time family friend who used to be on the board of admissions at west point. We do this from time to time to discuss how I am improving and he gives me advice on how to improve and what I should be working on. One of the things he asked me about was if I was applying for early admission... I said, "well, I am applying for everything I can as early as possible." He replied that I needed to go to their website and click on early admissions and that it was a different thing all together. I just thought that early admissions meant you had everything in that was required in the application process... Also, I have read in other threads that they don't do LOA's anymore and even he said I could get an LOA still...? Any thoughts?

One more thing: Is there anywhere that I can view my entire profile for West point? Like the awards I have updated and stuff like that because when I log in to my candidate portal, I cannot view everything I have updated and I need to know what I have and haven't done so I can update necessary info.

As I understand it, West Point is gradually getting rid of LOAs, so only around 10% of the class of 2018 will receive them. Knowing that, you should not get at all discouraged if you do not get one.

You are correct that there is no early application separate from the regular application.

When you visit your Candidate Portal, you should see this at the top:
Home | SLE | Profile | Overview | Upload Docs | Nominations | Liaisons
You can see everything you've updated in your profile (the preliminary app) under Profile and the application checklist under Overview. Your profile can be updated if you request an update (see the top of the page in your profile) and the admissions staff will manually update it for you. The Candidate Activities Record in your Overview page, however, asks for the specifics of your activities, and you can add or delete any of the ones you previously had in your profile. In addition, you will have to send them your SAT scores to verify those. Essentially, the profile is an unofficial big picture of your application.
If the problem is that one or more of those tabs does not show up for you, then just wait until July when most of the application portals will be opened.

Very informative! Thanks!

@USAFAUSMA When I tried to view my profile like you told me, nothing appeared on that page. It said something about July 25th but I thought that was just for the SSK.

Unless you went to SLE you won't see any of those tabs at this time, it should open some time and July (and according to someone who posted above me - July 25)

One more question, Can I begin sending in necessary papers/info for west point before the SSK opens?

Yes, as long as you have a CQ done = a file that you can start sending info to: transcripts, official test scores, LORs other than the three SOEs you'll need, resume. CFA results I'd hold off until the SSK. There is a request form that goes out from your portal.
