You don't mention what class year you are in so I'm guessing a sophomore, especially since you didn't mention any SAT/ACT scores. I would say you look promising but it is early. Keep getting good grades. Take the heaviest class load you can while maintaining good grades. Keep up the athletics. Try to get more leadership spots (class pres, team captain, etc.). Plan on taking the SAT and/or ACT a few times to get the best possible scores. Oh, make sure you get that Eagle Scout prior to end of first semester your senior year, if not sooner. Look into attending Boys State.

And always listen to Jcleppe's advice. Work plans B, C, and D, throughout the process.

arts at the service academies

When applying to usma,
usna etc, would it be acceptable to say I played the piano outside of school?

As long as you actually do play the piano outside of school, it would be perfectly acceptable to say that.
