I'm applying for Marine Corp option NROTC and Rotc. I have a 3.7 GPA. I play football, run cross country, and track. I have a part time job and I'm a volunteer firefighter. I also am involved in clubs in my school. I feel like this part of my application will be decent. The thing that has me worried most is my ACT. I scored a 25 math, 22 English, and a composite score of 22, which I know is not very competitive at all. The next ACT opportunity is in September and I'm not sure if I should wait or go ahead and apply. Is there a way you can update your ACT after your application has been sent? Whether i get the scholarship or not I still plan on joining the college program NROTC. Any advice I could would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I'd say start it now and send in new scores when possible. You'll need to get started right away anyway just to get everything submitted for the first boards, since you're doing two applications.

When you ask about NROTC and ROTC what exactly do you mean, are you asking about other ROTC programs beside NROTC.

For Army, you really need to try and get a minimum 24 composite ACT or 1100 SAT to be able to get the max points for the Interview points.

The sports are good, you should be Varsity. Being a Captain in at least one of the sports would help.

School involvement is good but you really need to be in leadership positions.

Is your GPA unweighted.

What is your class rank.

Alright that's what I plan on doing but just to make sure I think I'm going to talk with my recruiter. For right now I've mainly focused on the NROTC scholarship because I think the ROTC as later deadlines.

I'm asking about applying for the four year scholarship.

I know that I can obtain the score of at least 24 after taking the ACT again in September I'm just not sure if its smart to wait that long.
I am varsity in all 3 im also a captain in football
I'm in a couple leadership positions in clubs and right when school starts back I expect to get more. My GPA is unweighted. Im ranked 29/118

Yes you can update your SAT and ACT scores. You should also take the SAT. Some folks do better on one vs the other. Go ahead and sign up for the Sept. ACT and work on test questions in the meantime to improve your scores. You may also be able to sign up for classes which teach you HOW to take these tests. There is a method to it that can be learned.

Glad to hear you are considering doing NROTC MO as a college programmer. That is what my son did and he won a sideload (in-school) scholarship second semester of his sophomore year. There is more than one way to skin this cat.

Good Luck. Press On. :thumb:

Awesome thats good to know. Im going to be better prepared this time around for the ACT this is only my second time taking it. And thats awesome for your son if i dont get the scholarship im hoping that i can do the same. Im wanting to get into the program whether it be scholarship or non-scholarship at Auburn.

I hate to ask again, but what other ROTC program are you asking about beside NROTC.

You realize there is :

AROTC
AFROTC
NROTC
NROTC Marine Corps.

Oh im sorry I knew that. Im applying for AROTC and NROTC MO

For AROTC the ACT is superscored, if you can raise the lower sections and get to a 24 that would be a help.

School selection will play a big role in getting a scholarship with your current stats.
