I have 5 violation points on SAF. The last point I "earned" (I said something mean to someone) was Aug. 9, 2009.

Is there a break down on what points mean, how they go away, continue to collect, etc?

Two questions. How do you know you have 5 violation points? And, did your insurance rates go up?

You can see it when you look at your own information.... just click on your name.

Pretty serious. It means you are on double secret probation. Be careful.

Now that I think about it, my 'friends' list is empty... I guess there is no fixing that either! ;-)

Thank you for the question, LITS.

We issue both types of infraction points, depending on the situation such as how egregious the infraction and whether the individual was warned before.

The ban periods are as follows: 3 points - 1 week, 6 points - 1 month, 9 points - 6 months, 12 points - lifetime.

To give points, we have a set of standardized infractions in order to increase the objectivity of the system. Custom infractions are available for those times when they are necessary.

Thank you again for the question. Please let me know if there's anything else you would like to know.

I see, so it is accumulated points.

I have 5 points, the last of which I received a little over four years ago. If I get another point, I'm banned for a month (and no no, I'm not planning on earning another point).

My infractions say "point/expires" and each infraction from February 2009 - August 2009 says "1/never."

Just a thought, but maybe SAF should consider expirations on points. We find ourselves 6 years down the road, I'm still riding five points from a decade ago...
