I have been disqualified by DoDmerb for having Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) in my jaw. This has never been a problem for me and it is healed. I am surprised that it even came up to DoDmerb. Is this minor condition easily awarded a waiver? Is this a problem in the USCG?

The poster has 12 posts (and 4 or 5 of them are the same). It is probably more constructive to tell him that is not appropriate forum etiquette to post the same question in multiple forums. I did the same thing a couple of years ago when I was new to the forum and I was courteously told "don't do that". Worked great with me.

And to partially answer the question, I don't think TMJ is included on the non-waiverable list. If it isn't then assume you should request the waiver. I'm in no position to say if it's an easy waiver.

I can tell you not to lose hope in the waiver request process. A DODMERB letter can knock the wind out of you. But you should realize that has also happened to many current and past cadets and midshipmen. Just look as it as another hurdle, that makes the finish line that much sweeter.

I got DQ'd for an illness I never even had in the first place. Navy and Air Force denied my waiver request, Coast Guard said yes. DODMERB works in weird ways, but I'm happy it ended up putting me at CGA :thumb:

I was initally medically DQ'd for CGA and USNA, but a second examination proved that the first, DoDMERB contracted, doctor was wrong.

It's too bad that Larry Mullen still isn't around. He really helped me and countless others on this forum through the waiver/rebuttal process.
