As I understand it in early September the plebe candidates will become plebes during acceptance day They will also formally join the Regiment of Midshipmen and will be sworn into the U.S. Navy Reserve. When they are sworn into the naval reserve will they get some form of a pin to recognize them into the naval reserve?

If I am not mistaken, they officially become plebe candidates on Acceptance Day. As far as any pin, I do believe that there is some change with regard to the eagle that was once worn when sworn into the Reserves. . . Not much really changes for plebes until Recognition, and that is months away. . .

I'm pretty sure they no longer wear the MMR Insignia which used to be authorized for wear beginning on Acceptance Day.

The sequence goes:

Reporting day = Candidates
Completion of Indoc = Plebe Candidates
Acceptance Day = Plebes
Recognition Day = Fourth Classman

I was close. Kind of, anyway. And yes, of course. At Acceptance Day, they take the oath and that would make them Plebes and no longer Plebe Candidates. Not that it really matters regimentally. Maybe they get Flanking Privileges by then?

Flanking priveleges by acceptance day!?!? ... PSHAW:eek: Things are getting so lax its out of hand. Things started going downhill as soon as the SDIs started wearing berets!

Well. . . now that fan privileges are out the window (so to speak). . .

After reading the other topic about the Sea Chicken pin now phased out (www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=32681), do they still get a pin on Acceptance Day and if so, which pin?

Sorry for the malformed link above. I still do not have enough posts to post links. I'll post some more and edit this one once I've reached the minimum.

EDIT: Post count minimum reached. Link works :)

The school is not following navy regulations and will pin the old MMR Badge on the midshipman for acceptance day.
