Are there any USNA events where plebes are welcome to/encouraged to bring dates along? Such as any dances, etc.? I'm trying to schedule a weekend or two where I could travel up to Annapolis to visit my girlfriend, and if there were any date-oriented events, that would be great!! Thanks!

Given you are at the Citadel, Class of 2016, I am sure you can appreciate what she's got going on this week with the rest of the Brigade about to land on top of the plebes. I am sure she will hear what's possible, and there are current/recent alums who will have some thoughts for you.

Her town liberty will be limited to Saturdays from about noon to midnight, and she is only allowed in private vehicles with parents, officers, sponsor parents and others, if you helping her to observe regulations. Football weekends are fun, but you won't be able to sit with her, and she will have just a few hours post-game, so pick a weekend that's NOT a football weekend or her duty weekend.

I suspect she will be very happy to see you, even if it's for the simple pleasures of a movie, dinner out, walking around Annapolis and sampling the ice cream, being herself and being called by her first name in a normal tone of voice by someone she cares about - that is fine date material!

Let her tell you what's possible - she doesn't know the rhythm of the academic year yet, but in a matter of days, she will.

Birthday Ball

In addition to above, I'm confident the Navy and/or Marine Corp birthday ball is celebrated by the Academy. That could put the event around Oct. 13 or Nov 10. I'm sure an Academy grad could add more info about it.

Homecoming. Birthday balls. Company dining-out.

I-Ball is by far the biggest one though.

Thank you for ya'll's insight, I just googled the I-ball and it looks pretty awesome, definitely something we'd enjoy together :)
We are bound and determined to show the world that the 2% club definitely has it's success stories :D

On another note, at a USNA ball or dining-out, would it be more appropriate for me to wear a tux or similar civilian formal wear, or would my Citadel Full Dress be appropriate and/or preferred? For those that don't know, it looks identical to the West Point full dress uniform.

Thank ya'll for your responses :)

Your date will be in Dinner Dress Blue (perks of being a plebe) for dances and balls. Civilian tux or equivalent Citadel uniform is appropriate. Homecoming might be in Service Dress Blue, I can't remember.

Company dining out will vary by company. Some of them do the traditional military dining out, and some of them just go out in town and get a meal.

Wear your Citadel mess uniform. Be proud and honored to hold her hand and she'll feel the same. Congrats to you both for your choice of service.

I am awed going through our cities All academy/ROTC Christmas Ball and the most impressive are those dates who wear their service dress uniforms as well (regardless of school, service or status)
