So ds submitted his AROTC app. It shows PFT was sent to the coach listed. Will the coach be contacted to administer the test, or is it my son's responsibility to get it started? confusing.....

Have him contact the coach to:
A. Confirm they got the paperwork
B. Set up the time.

+1 to Pima

Also, if DS hasn't already done so, you might want to consider having him print out the PFT form and take it with him when he meets with the coach to take his test. The form is in the Additional Information area of the application. My DS coach filled it out, signed it & dated it as soon as the test was complete, and then DS brought it back home to upload it into his application. He then scanned in the signed form and emailed it back to his coach, so that the coach would have the necessary information when CC contacted him directly.

Don't know if all that's necessary, but that's what we did and it seemed to work out just fine. At the time DS was ready to do the PFT, his coach had not yet received an email from CC. Therefore, we weren't sure what his email was going to look like or what CC would send to him or request from him. Since the entire process for the application seems to have been revamped this year, we didn't want to take a chance of holding up the scheduling of the interview because of not having the PFT out of the way.

To add onto that make a folder now with copies of all of your correspondence. It just makes it easy to refer back to along the way, especially when deadline dates become big factors.

We just did the PFT, and sent in the signed results on the paper copy. Coach had not received the e-mail. Do you think he also needs to send in the e-mail when he gets it? Future - did you son's portal update to say PFT received just from the uploaded copy?

My son's portal was updated just from the upload. To my knowledge, the coach still hasn't recd an email from CC. My gut tells me that if he does, in fact, eventually get an email, it will probably be asking for the same info. on the PFT form. I figure it's their way of verifying that the information is legit. I'll try and email the coach while I'm at work tomorrow to see if he's gotten anything.

AND, if for any reason the PFT performance is lower than anticipated on the day of the test... ill, hurt ... then ask the coach to NOT submit the results. Arrange to take the test again, after issue is resolved.
One may take the test as many times as one wishes, but can only submit scores once.

We were told to shoot for 50 sit-ups, 40 push-ups, 6-7 min mile. But aim high and do your best!

I just heard back from DS coach this morning. He said he has yet to receive an email from CC. So, I'm wondering if the upload of the form signed by the coach is satisfying the requirement.

Ds still waiting on PFT and interview. So you are saying to have son get things going with coach prior to coach being notified?

Definitely! That's what we did, and it hasn't come back to kick us in the teeth yet!

We set up an appointment with the coach, downloaded the PFT scoring form from the Additional Information area of the application portal, had the coach complete and sign the form at the time DS did PFT, and then uploaded the signed form into the application. It was approved in no time flat and told us we were good to go to schedule the interview.

We still haven't gotten anything on interview selections either. Should he contact the school to set something up? Does he need to notify anyone before he does this? Frustrating process.....

I agree, it's very frustrating because what little instructions there are, are not very clear. Our son completed everything on the application except for the survey and the essay. Once all of his transcripts, test scores, & the PFT form were uploaded, he received a message on his application portal dashboard a few days later stating that he could schedule the interview. They gave him a list of schools to choose from that were relatively close to our home. It also stated that if they chose to interview at a school not on the list, that the applicant needed to contact them to let them know where the interview would take place. We are still in the process of trying to get in touch with someone from the cadre at his first choice school to set up the interview. DS is putting a few more tweaks on his personal statement and then that will be complete, as well. The last thing for him to do is the survey.

I hope that helps!

Degli,

If I have read your post correctly, they have stated that they emailed the coach. Your DS should be able to print it and take it to the coach. Have him print 2 if it makes you feel better....1 for him to keep, 1 for the coach to keep.

It appears others have submitted the scores before the coach got the email and they are moving forward.
~~~ Again a reason to have 2 copies....if it does come back to bite you, the coach has the original results in his office, and if he can't find his, you have yours.
Unfortunately, being safe with duplication is what you want. Remember the military is big, and pieces of information can get lost. Send the original with no copy can cause stress on you later on. I kept all of our DS's paperwork until he commissioned.
JMPO, you should set up appointments to meet every unit this fall, not for the interview process per se, but every det is different from a personality perspective. They are like colleges regarding a unique feel. However, just because the college has a unique feel does not mean the det. has the same feel.
Have them meet with cadets (MSIII/IV) without you because the fact is they will talk openly and can give them more insight on what his life will be like than anyone here or on www.collegeconfidential.com It also will allow MSIII's to remember him when he is an MSI and they are a MSIV. Not that they will give special treatment, but instead they have a face with a name those 1st few weeks.
Posters have done this over the past few yrs., and many actually changed their school rankings. College academics is part of their life, and as they go up the ROTC rank, ROTC will become a bigger part of their life. ROTC may become their social aspect of college.
No, the coach has not been notified. Thinking my ds should get things going anyway.
OUr coach was never notified. We just printed the form, the coach filled it out, signed it, etc, and we snail mailed it in. It has not yet appeared on his portal, but when we snail mailed SAT scores and transcript, it took about 10 days to appear, so it has not quited been that long yet.
Couldn't agree more with Pima on this. Son has met with two of his top three schools ROTC people. One was for an "informal" interview and the other for his formal interview. Both were almost two hours long. He talked with different people in both including PMS as well as a recent grad. He felt the personalities of the programs were very different at both and this difference is factoring into his equation. This was a lot of work on our part (9 hour round trip for one, and missing part of our older son's Plebe Parent wkend for the other) but well worth it.
.
same issue here except that son originally had email sent to wrestling coach, but wanted to get this done before his interview so had his boxing coach do it (it says on the cadet Command page, any coach) son faxed and emailed the signed form. the wrestling coach works with the boxing coach so both coaches are happy to work together on this. On the application portal it says they received it but it does not say accepted or approved it just says "sent" (meaning they sent the email)--this is his last remaining check box. we are at a loss as to what do do on this from here.
Anything we snail-mailed was listed under the uploads page. They basically scanned it in and uploaded for us I guess. e-mail CC and ask them about that - we e-mailed about something and they got back to us within a few days. Has anyone actually SEEN the e-mail the coach gets, to know if it is the exact same form that a lot of us have been mailing/emailing/uploading ourselves?
