My DS said to me last night that the two senators he applied to have not yet updated his application.

Senator 1 - Letters of recommendations (Sent early July). He called Aug. 1st and and was told it would be done by the days end. He checked it yesterday and it was not updated. Called again and was told the administrator was on vacation.

Senator 2 - ACT scores (Sent in mid June with transcripts). He called and they said send them again (sent July 8). Checked on Aug. 1 and still not updated. Called again and got the email address to the administrator; was give the okay to send a copy of the exam. Exam sent but web site still not updated. In all ACT scores have been sent three times. All other information shown as received.

Has either of these things happened to others and if so what was your follow-up?

I do not know of one MOC that does rolling noms. Traditionally, they have a drop dead date for applications. Usually it is mid-end of Sept. at the earliest. IOTW, your DS can have it completed tomorrow, but if the drop date is Sept 30th. nobody will get a nom before Sept 30th.
~~~ FWIW, Sen A and B do not make the decision per se. They just endorse what their committee selects for the slate. They are a cross section of the community. They don't work in the office. Hence, no rolling, because they come together for a day or two and review everyone at one time.
My suggestion would be your DS let's it ride until about 2 weeks prior to the drop dead date. That is when he makes sure that his file is accurate.
Caveat: Have him contact the MOC and see if they do rolling. If not a squeaky wheel also can be seen as the annoying wheel when they have been informed the drop date is 6-9 weeks from now and they contact them weekly for 9 weeks.
~~~JMPO, sometimes the correct question is the best question. In this case...when do they close the files for the nom? Not it isn't showing updated, why/when will it be updated.

You know I am not trying to flame/irritate you, but this is a process that every candidate needs to understand when it comes to the military.

Repeat after me:

HURRY UP AND WAIT.

That is the military.

Wait until after Labor Day. Congress is on recess right now which means VACATION time for staff. Trust me, almost no work gets done in August in DC or in the local offices. Zero. Zippo. Nada.:smile:

Check when Congress returns (it's usually after Labor Day). Then give it a week. Then check. If it's still not updated, have the candidate (not mom or dad0 call the office to check on status.

Wait, only in August that happens? :yllol:

Sorry, had to get that out, but to the OP that is distressing that two months have gone by and no action by either office seems to have been taken. My guess is that things will pick up in September.

Also, virtually all -- if not all -- MOCs have a single deadline for applications. They don't make any decisions until that deadline. So, there's no "incentive" for MOC offices to update your files on a rolling basis. As long as they get it done by their deadline, they're good.

Understand that is a pain for you, as you want to make sure everything is in, in case something is missing. I can only tell you that they (typically) won't wait until the very last minute to update b/c they understand your anxiety. But they also probably aren't doing it as stuff comes in, especially during the summer and especially if their deadline is well into the fall (October or later).

Thank you...

Thank you all for the feedback, I communicate this to my DS. I'll hold off on the parental interaction until mid Sept or early Oct.

Cheers...
