Ok let me give you some background information. I was born with high frequency hearing loss. When I turned 18 I signed up for the Army National Guard. I went to MEPS and passed everything with fling colors got a 84 on my ASVAB, but I failed my hearing test. I was classified as a H2. My recruiter said it's not a big deal will send in a waiver and everything should be good. My unit accepted me 19D but after waiting 3 months my hearing waiver came back denied permanently DQ. My recruiter was shocked, but there was nothing he could help me with after that. I don't understand why it came back PDQ instead of just DQ I'm only a H2 not a H3 or H4. Anyway I will be attending College in a couple weeks and I joined the ROTC program I'm not on contract. I talked to the Col and explained the situation I'm in and he said just stick with the program and will see how you do and the summer after your sophomore year you can go to Dodmerb. Well my question to you guys is when I go to Dodmerb will I even be allowed to test or are they going to say no you failed Meps? I know the Meps physical is only valid for 2 years, well by the time I go to Dodmerb after my sophomore year it will be more then two years. I want nothing more then to serve my country and follow in my Grandfathers footsteps.

you made this same exact post about two weeks ago on multiple subforums, and got a couple replies. If the replies were insufficient, then normal forum etiquette would be to "bump" the earlier thread(s) asking for more input, rather than again starting new threads on multiple subforums. Just sayin'.

Sorry about that, the other thread I started only parents replied and none of them knew for sure if Dodmerb would let me. If I bumped it only the parents that replied would see it right? That's why I started a new thread.

If you bump it. It goes to the top of the list and anybody on here is probably going to see it.
Meps and DodMerb are different. I think they will retest you but I am just a parent and don't actually know.

you have the straight poop, direct from a Colonel, The Director of the Army Audiology & Speech Center (AASC) at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, who is also Consultant to The Army Surgeon General...you want another opinion???

Well my question to you guys is when I go to Dodmerb will I even be allowed to test or are they going to say no you failed Meps?

Yes DoDMERB will retest you, BUT Retesting is not going to improve your hearing, if your hearing does not meet requirements, you will fail the retest.
You are missing the major point here, and it's why you failed the physical.
So how bad is your hearing loss?

You need to be checked out by an good audiologist, get accurate numbers on your hearing...compare that to the DoD hearing specs and see how far off you are, if you hearing is way off you are toast. (The requirements for an officer are the same or higher than enlisted, if you failed the hearing test to enlist, (unless the test was in error) it's VERY unlikely you can commission.)

Yes I'm just a parent, (I also served) and the Army is all about regs, including hearing regs - arguing with Army Regulations is going to get you nowhere. looking for someone to encourage you - may lead to a huge disappointment, you NEED accurate numbers on your hearing. If it's a tiny bit out of spec, a waiver is worth a try...If it's way out of wack, you need to choose another career path.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there are many ways to serve...

Best of luck
