I'm calling out to all MS4s to discuss what they hope to branch and disclose their OMS.

Hopefully this helps us gauge the competition and just open a friendly discussion on AD cutoff, DMG, top 10% etc.

I'm hoping for MI, Armor, Infantry. I have a 94.2 OMS. I would prefer not to get detailed, but I acknowledge Combat Arms experience can be beneficial for an Intel Officer.

Anyone know chances of 94 OMS making DMG or even possibly top 10%

Would CULP and foreign language help getting into MI?

Ok, killer. Sorry to mess up your thread. :rolleyes:

Always causing trouble CPT....:thumb:

Drunk,

With a 94 you'll probably make DMG, you will most likely be just below the 10% mark depending on how the numbers fall and considering the new system this year.

With the old system, my older son graduated in 2012 with a 94.3, he ended up 10.34% on the AD OML. Things have changed a bit since then so I'm guessing the numbers will be higher.

CULP and foriegn language won't be a consideration in getting MI.

@jclepee

Thanks for the response. Did your son get his branch of choice? I guess when it's all said and done if I get the branch I desire it's no big deal.

Yes, he got the branch he wanted, Aviation. Flys the same Airframe the Captain who's apology you graciously accepted, started out flying. Scout was a lot of help through the process.

You don't get anything special for top 10% just your guaranteed branch. You shouldn't have a problem getting MI. Whether you get detailed or not will depend on how many 2LT they need in the MI branch. MI does not have many 2LT's, they are very CPT heavy.

I have an 84.3 (w/o CULP added in yet) and I'm looking to get Med Services or Quartermaster.

Anyone know how much CULP will actually increase my score?

I am aware you don't get anything special for being top 10% on the OML, however, because I know MI details a lot of 2LTs, I would rather go straight into the field. I have been told getting combat arms experience can be beneficial, it's either one or the other for me.

So, I assume your son is a Kiowa pilot?

CULP is just a small percentage point of many available for the Battalion score, I wouldn't count on it raising your score much.

You should have a good chance at Quartermaster, Med Services is iffy depending on where you fall on the OML, if your at the high side of the lower 50% line then you'll have a better chance. With the new branching model, anything is possible.

Good luck.

Outsider looking in. 2 things.

1. Doesn't the CC sit down with cadets prior to discuss chances?

2. Drunk, I got scout's post.
~~~ You will be a leader in a yr. It may be funny to you as a college cadet, but, ..... you get what I am thinking don't you?
~~~~ Meant in kindness for number 2. Just saying, if you want respect or to be taken seriously belligerent drunk as a moniker on this site is probably not the username you want. Especially since the military has become very intolerant of drunks in the AD world. It may be funny for a 21 yr old, not in the military. Not so much for a 22 yo in the military.

When you request the MI branch you can ask for a certain Detail, with your OMS you should get what you ask for. If you ask for MI without a Detail and the Army decides to detail you anyway, it will be their choice. A number of MI branched cadets are detailed to Chem Corps every year if they don't specify a different detail. Just something to think about.

Yes, the cadets will receive counseling before they make their wish list. This year will be quite different though. The cadets will know their OMS score but will not know their placement on the OML before they make their selections. In previous years the cadets knew exactly where they stood.

The OMS score will at least give them an idea of their standing based on the OMS scores of previous years. It's going to be interesting to see how this all shakes out tis year.

+1 on the rest, I was being too subtle.

Trust me, there is no hurry to get to the PowerPoint Patrol. Find a branch detail to your liking and get some time in the field.

1. I attend a very small college in California, we see our PMS of course but not as often as most larger schools or host colleges. He has also discussed our chances with us, but with 15 cadets in our program, I would like to hear from others.

2. As for Scouts post, a screen name is just that. Someone named "Tactical Nuke" told me the same thing about my name as you are now. I told him/her their name wasn't better, but I really could careless about anyone's screen name.

I am not a drunk or alcoholic, I don't even drink. Get over it.

There's no need to +1 anything, also no need to be subtle. We all don't come from major universities, large programs or have the most experienced Cadre when it comes to this. We just got a new Human Resources Specialist in May.

Makin' friends and influencing people!

This kid is my new favorite poster.

For someone who wants to be in MI, you might want to do some intelligence work on posters before you go and trash their name and do so publicly.

Lots of folks here go to or have cadets who go to "small" schools. Unless your cadre has a history of blowing smoke up your arse, you might want to listen to them. They know more about the process than 90%+ of the posters here.

Once again, do some research on the posting histories of folks around here. Some people here will tell you what you want to hear. Others will give you a whack behind the head. Knowing which to listen to is a critical skill of someone who wants to be in the intelligence field...
