We had a great time. The classes we went to were very interesting and I left feeling I could sit and talk to one of my son's teachers for hours (he was that interesting and knowledgeable about the Middle East).
It was great to meet one of the regular posters here. Her daughter is one squared away cadet. Her husband (an academy grad) was a pleasure to tlak to. She was awesome to discuss some things with, we have a few things in common. I believe her daughter is destined for great things there.
We had a few of the cadets spend the weekend with us. One made a fabulous dinner for us from his native land. One kept me laughing all weekend.
We had a couple of the families over for dinner on Sunday. One was my son's roommate for the past 2 years, the other was my son's classmate since the 5th grade or earlier, we weren't quite sure.
I hope everyone got to the visitor's center before my wife bought the store out. The game was fun, especially the 2nd half, when it was partly cloudy and not so hot. The Squadron tailgate had delicious food. and of course, to top the weekend off, what can be better than hearing "I'll be Home for Christmas"?
It was bittersweet, it was our last PW. New parents savor them and go, the 4 you get go real fast.

We also had an awesome time. My DS is still living his dream. He said there must be something wrong with him, but he loves everything about being there.
We had a great time in the classes, and just hanging out. And we were able to buy stuff at the visitor center, so we must have gotten there before you guys.

The game was fun, but like you said, hot the first half.

Didn't make it to Thudgate. Between friends, the squadron tailgate, and everything else, we never made it. :frown:

All in all a great weekend. Now, what was the song that was played...:I'll be Home for Christmas."

I had such a blast on my four trips out to USAFA. Makes me kind of nostalgic; makes me wish I still had college students at my house.

OMG! Where's that Jeremiah Weed? I must be crazy!

Darling. You know where I live. You are invited out here any time. And you know I always have a bottle of weed in the freezer. Mike.

I had a great time but missed the flyovers at the game and the parade. I hope they get it done for graduation. It was my last one and it was great to talk to the squadron major and sgt. Got to go to biology dept. since DS dates one of the col's daughters and hang out. Didn't need to rent a car and Could finally have a nice bottle of wine at carlos bistro since he is 21. Great time and proud of all the firsties who made it this far.

I'm pretty sure there wasn't a flyover, unless i went deaf and blind.

It was our 1st PW. We now understand and appreciate the difference between climbing 6 flights of stairs at sea level as opposed to 7,258 ft. above. Setting up our DD’s room was fun. We were able to purchase everything needed close by. Fortunately, her mother was available to “suggest” what items were required. The weekend was all about what our DD wanted to do, sleep, eat, sleep some more, etc. Evidently, sleeping in-between bed covers is a big deal. The jump team was exciting; however, after watching their performance, (and knowing our DD is interested in joining one of the clubs/teams,) I don’t think I could watch her parachute. As others have mentioned, the professors were impressive. All made themselves available to parents for questions/concerns, her Chinese professor in particular. So joyful to see her, so sad to say goodbye, so proud of her…

"Missed them" as in not there like the previous years

And you won't see any, at least through the end of September (end of Fiscal year), because of the guidance not to conduct fly-overs for the rest of the year due to the sequestration budget cuts. Chances of getting this rescinded for FY 14 (starts October 1) looking slim if the rest of the sequestration (more budget cuts through the next 5 years) take effect.

Therre was a fly-over at the parade on Friday. The pilots must have been really tiny.

Not only tiny, but they must have had inch-thick exoskeletons to survive some of those twisting maneuvers!

In any case, I thought the team did a great job with their demonstration. Was fun to watch.

What a difference a year makes! Our C3C was so excited to have us meet her squadron leadership and their families, all of whom were smart, caring and committed. The anxiety of doing something wrong is gone; it has been replaced by excitement, enthusiasm and energy! I echo Devildog...what a great time, and I think it only gets better as the years go on. Of course there was still the mandatory Walmart run and the Visitor Center swag-fest, but this year we went hiking and enjoyed CS in a way that a C4C in service dress just can't.
People always ask why we would go year after year...isn't it the same thing, they say? I don't think so...I think that every year the perspective of the cadets change, they take on new roles, they face new challenges, and it's a joy to witness them in their environment as they mature.
Wish I had met more of you, but was lucky enough to meet a couple and form some great bonds!

May not see flyovers in Syria until October either

I understand that a really good fireworks show usually follows:smile:
