Hey guys! I just applied ED to VMI today (September 28, 2013) and I'm already incredibly anxious to hear back! I understand that VMI will notify me "no later than November 15" on my status, but I was curious if they begin making decisions on candidates sooner than the given date? The man from admissions didn't specify, and it says nothing about that on their website. I would love to hear back from them ASAP, I'm beyond excited. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from everyone!

I'm also an applicant! Is ED where you are required to go to VMI if accepted? Or just an early decision? I got my application fully submitted about 10 days ago.

For some reason I heard that VMI gave out all admissions decisions on December 13th? But if you talked to a man from admsissions, I'll take his word for it. It sounds like we could hear any time, and November 15 is the final date for them to tell you.

Best of luck and hopefully I'll see you in Lexington!

I looked it up on the website, it says if all admissions documents are submitted by November 15, you'll have a decision no later than December 15th.

@SH, I had my facts wrong, The website did in fact say December 15, I just wasn't sure if we were notified any earlier. But for VMI, if you're accepted ED, you must attend, however, there are different circumstances. For example, if you apply to a service academy, and you're accepted to that academy as well as VMI, you can cancel the ED, but thats the only exception. Anyway, I hope you receive the news I'm looking for too! Rah-Virginia Mil, 2017!

For what it's worth,

when I applied Early Decision 4 years ago, I found out on December 15th.
Sleepless nights in the beginning of December...

I'm assuming IF I get accepted, it will be December 15th. What I would give to be from Virginia...

HonorDutyCountry, how easy is it to change majors at VMI going into your freshman year?

You will have an ample amount of opportunities on Matriculation Day to change ROTC branches and even academic majors BEFORE the festivities begin.

You wouldn't happen to know the Cadet who gave me a tour would you? I think his last name was Pryor and he was a Chemistry major! Tell him thanks for inspiring me if you do know him :thumb:

So applying ED at VMI is binding? You are required to attend? Does applying ED give you better chances of receiving better financial aid?

From what they told me, its very similar to the typical ED. It's binding, however, it can be cancelled if you're accepted to a service academy, thats the only exception. Other than that, you're going to be a Keydet!

Well then if we are both accepted, I'll see you in Lexington!

Have they sent you an application for the Institute Scholars Program? I just finished my essays and I'm mailing it in tomorrow!
