My daughter's unit was informed today that the cadets won't be paid for the month of October. She's a huge saver and could weather a year of no pay. Now my son is another story and not getting his stipend could be challenging for his 'personal' life

Seeing it here in Ohio too. Some of our National Guard SMP cadets didn't get paid for drill either. Now they're talking about Ranger Challenge and Field Training getting axed if Congress doesn't get their act together soon. Just been a big ol' disappointment all around.

My son's financial habits became a little sloppy once he started getting the stipend. I'm hoping he learns from this experience and tightens things up. Of course I'll have to keep an eye on Mom to make sure she doesn't "help".

since they haven't paid for room and board yet for this semester, I sure do hope that they honor those obligations.

DS was paid $270 on Oct 1st. I posted earlier it was in full, my mistake. $270 is a strange amount. Also strange he got it all at once...I was under the impression he was to be paid $150 every other week. Still learning the process i guess.

Caution him on spending money that seems more then what he should be getting. The govt can and will take it back if there is a mistake.

He most likely received the first full stipend and the pro-rated amount for the start of school or when he contracted.
