New Marine Look

I LIKE it!

I 100% approve this change! It looks a little French!

You would think... with $17,000,000,000,000 in debt, sequestration still in effect, another debt ceiling argument approaching, the general early failure of the Affordable Care Act (and then we REALLY get to feel in in a few years), immigration, Benghazi, "spying" on allies, etc.....

You would think this is a little below his radar (I suspect it actually is). However, I wouldn't put it past idiot White House staffers to care.

Another example of great journalism (I am kidding)

Can't tell if this is an article, column, or editorial.

Thanks to a plan by President Obama to create a "unisex" look for the Corps

I like to think I am somewhat informed on what's going in the United States and DoD. I highly doubt President Obama actually specifically directed the Corps to have a "unisex" look. I can see an over zealous political appointee turning something like creating a gender blind, gender neutral, environment in the military into a "unisex" look for the Corps.

Either President Obama is getting blamed for something he didn't direct or what some folks' opinion about the President is true.

Again, when will this Political Correctness this country (politicians) seems to be embracing end. Let men be men and women be women. That cover is ridiculous.

It is the ultimate decision of the Marine Corps Uniform Board not Obama. The Commandant then has the up or down. They have requested input from active and retired marines. They last tried chocker collars for women as a test in DC. It didn't go over well. They also tried blood stripes on skirts, same outcome. Also now thinking of microbraids for all personnel :shake: This will be interesting in the Corps. Make it Kepi with a large plume.

I would so much rather wear a beret than that.
I always thought the Marines had the sharpest uniforms of all the services but this would definitely set them back.

It will be interesting to see if this is real or just Fox trying to pin something else on the administration that has nothing to do with any of the real problems in DC.

I know, sooooo girly.

Well done, Fox News! A Two-fer: an article headline intended to attack the President, and the Marines are getting sissy-fied!

Except, let's ignore the facts or logic (as usual for Fox News)

1) The President DOES NOT make uniform decisions, the individual services do. The President justs makes adjustments and approves their budget; fashion isn't a part of that equation.

2) It's cheaper to have one style of cover designed to fit ALL Marines than to design and purchase two separate covers based on sex. This is a cost decision for the Marines mostly. (But I do agree with LITS observation that the new cover makes it look like they take your luggage when you check into a first-class Hilton).

Look, the military wants officers who think for themselves based on thorough review of all the sides of the issue. We spend big bucks to get you tons of information, so use it before you make leaps of judgement and poor conclusions. Take this to heart in your daily activities as well, and don't just listen / read one side of the aisle's media talking heads only before sounding off on the "injustices" of the world. I HATE MSNBC as well, but I also hate Fox News for the same reasons, and frankly, Al Jazeera America is getting my Neilson ratings more and more, mostly because of all the US cable news channels, THEIRS is the most balanced. And isn't that a shame?

If this keeps up, I may just start having to post links to news articles from MoveOn.org on this site for more balance.

Well Bullet, perhaps a WashingtonTimes article will sit better with you.

Oops, it says the same thing.

Ummmm, you're using the Washington Times as an example of another news agency with a differing political slant than Fox News? Try again.

How about this for a more balanced Headline / body for the article?

"Some Marines don't like proposed new Unisex hat

A quick review of some social media sites and newspaper article comments sections show that some posters who claim to be current and former marines do not like the hats proposed by the Marine Corps Uniform Board. These new style hats are designed to meet current administrative guidelines to go to a single hat for both male and female marines in an effort to save the cost of having to design and stock two separate "gender specific" hats. The Marine Corp Uniform Board's proposal is under review. Some of the posters on these social media sights are showing their disdain for the new style, which they describe as "girlie", or even worse, "French looking".

See the difference?

Totally agree, but the President can influence the uniform decision. I am not saying he did.

I guess we will never know why the writer claimed it was Obama's plan.

Please tell me this is an early April Fool's day joke. This is one old Marine that does not like the look. And, as noted earlier it is a cover. Marines don't wear hats.
