its still his first year, and we don't want to count the chickens... but with project GO, clep and AP credits, DS should start his MSII year as a junior. He plotted a track that, without setbacks, would allow him to graduate before LDAC. He was wondering if he could use his MSIV year for grad school, or for a dual major... does that happen often? Know its a long shot, but its additional motivation...

Dual majors happen all the time. Some colleges offer a 5 yr MA as well but you need to be approved with program

the dual seems logical and the easiest... we didn't know if he could transfer for grad school during MSIV

This is the problems with AP credits that why I suggest to people not to use them.

I see a few issues with using his last year to go to grad school (104-R and CC approval wise) but the dual major thing might work. He has to a be a full time student his 4th year and complete his MSIV curriculum which is the heaviest of all 4 years.

Yes you can do part undergrad adn part grad during your MS4 year. Although if he is an MS1 CDT and already knows he is graduating early then I would suggest have him talk to the cadre and see if he can just commissioning at the end of LDAC. Or he can combine his ms1 and ms2 year and come in next year as a junior in the army program. Just some thoughts

One problem may be that an ROTC scholarship cannot pay for two degrees. I'm thinking you may have to pay for the grad school year (might want to check me on that one). slowing down and adding a minor might be a better plan.

Our DS (AFROTC) on scholarship, did get a dual major, a minor and a core concentration with all of the credits he entered in with. He also was able to slow down his sr. yr because he only needed 12 credits per semester to graduate even with a dual.
~~~ I think the reason he was able to get a dual was his majors were so close (Govt and Politics) that many of the classes required were the same until he got to his higher level courses, at that point his Govt major classes were considered electives for Politics and vise a verse. His minor was in International Relations and his core was Military history. It took a lot of planning to fill in all of the squares.
I think clarkson is correct. I recall reading the fine print it clearly stated it was for his undergrad degree on his scholarship paperwork. He had a friend that decided to go the other route, and get his grad degree because he needed to be in ROTC for 4 yrs, but it was out of pocket for his Masters even though he was graduating within 4 yrs.
~~~ Again, this was for AFROTC, but I have a funky feeling that the fine print is the same, could be wrong!
