I just need some clarifications. For the CFA, are the average scores the minimum requirements? or are the minimum scores not released. Because I heard if you fail to meet minimum requirements for 1 event, you will fail the whole CFA which means you will NOT be accepted to West Point whatsoever.

I pass all my events (as in over average scores that are given for the CFA) except for the mile run! I suck at running. My mile time is 7:30. the average is 6:43. So is 6:43 the minimum requirement? I don't want all this effort to just go to waste because i was not able to pass 1 event... I will train and go hard. but someone please answer my question. I am stressed out lol

According to this link, the average scores for CFA posted are well above the minimum requirements... I sincerely hope this link is right.

Do stay positive! No, the average scores are higher than the minimum scores... but by how much? That's the question that nobody here can answer. The thing is, they don't want applicants to shoot for the minimum - they want you do do your very best! Having said that, they will tell you if your score was not good enough, and you can then ask to submit new scores if you can improve your time. If, as you said, you continue to train and go hard your run time should improve quite a bit, then you can ask to submit new scores even if you didn't actually fail with a 7:30 mile. Just because you didn't fail doesn't mean you should stop trying to improve your score - the candidates you're competing with won't. :thumb:

CFA Minimums

I actually think WP should fully publish the minimums. In 30 years in the Army, I ALWAYS knew the minimum, maximum, and the increments for any PT test I ever took. That way I could make decisions on my training program. If I was failing the situps, but ok in the pushups and run - guess what I would concentrate on? Saying that, if you look at the averages, that should put you in the ball park of what you need to do. Just silly that the Tasks, Conditions, and Standards are not clearly articulated.

Actually 7:30 isn't unmanageable. I ran a 7:34 (I was incredibly sick the day of the CFA), and I still passed. My Liaison officer even said that I had a pretty good score overall (probably due to high scores in a few other events). But just know, mile time doesn't kill you too bad, and a 7:30 is just fine for now. Keep the score for now, keep improving, and retake if possible.

I think CFA standards is pretty clear, do your best. Not going to get into West Point by just meeting some arbitrary standard.

You passed the run. I ran a 7:40 mile and am here. (I run a mile closer to 6:20 now.) Don't show up with a 7:30 mile if you get in though, or you will hate yourself like I did.
