Every college that offers NROTC-MO is going to be "popular for it". You're not gonna find a school that's unpopular for Marine Options, because there's just not as many schools that offer it compared to AROTC or AFROTC.

Tulane University is by far the most competitive school to get into on the list. While all are good schools in their own right, they are also the nations top party schools especially ASU, LSU, University of Arizona and Auburn. So 4/5 :yllol:

As for Marine ROTC it's really hard to say, but I bet they all are.

If you are asking about being admitted, Tulane is the only highly competitive school on the list. A good student ought to be able to get into any of the others without too much difficulty.

However, if you are asking about being awarded a NROTC marine-option scholarship, the answer is different. There will probably be a lot more candidates requesting each of the state universities you listed than Tulane, so Tulane may actually be less competitive for scholarship purposes. I also think that most of the scholarship slots at the state universities are likely to be filled by in-state candidates, as it is always more cost-effective for the Navy to pay in-state tuition. But it costs the same for everyone at private schools, so your state of residence won't be a factor in the scholarship selection at Tulane. That being the case, it may be relatively disadvantageous to put a lot of out-of-state public schools on your list.

Can't tell you much about individual dets or their admission rates... But as a former Marine I can tell you what officers I had the most interaction with and the impressions I had from them. I went through TBS with alot of folks from U of Colorado, Auburn and U of Arizona. My impression of all them was they were squared away. I do not think I came across anyone from the other schools on your list, but that doesn't mean anything.

When picking a det pick on what feels right and where you will be happiest. Some prefer a larger det, others will thrive in a smaller environment. How many MECEP Marines are in the det? They are a wealth of knowledge. What is their success rate for candidates at OCS? MOIs will come and go, so remember that also. An MOI who is highly regarded now, might only be there for a year or less when you arrive. Make sure you like the school you select also. Would suck to hate your college for 4 years. Are these all host schools or will you have to travel? I had a few friends who were at GW and others a Georgetown, even though its the same program, their impressions varied because of the cross town situation.

Thank you, that is good information. I think a couple of them are not host schools and that will make a difference. I realize most of the school are out of Texas but they are where he wants to go. I also think Tulane will be the hardest to get into. He has already been accepted to Auburn.
