Hi all, I applied to NROTC nursing option and just wanted throw my stats out to see what you guys thought of my strength, or what the stats of other nursing applicants are. Thanks!

ACT composite 28
3.96 unweighted GPA
8/184
Class president for 3 years
NHS Member
250 hours of community service at local hospital
Many Honors courses as well as many college courses
3 years of varsity soccer, senior captain
4 year trumpet player in top high school jazz band

Any advice and/or input is greatly appreciated.

I think you've got a good shot. Your scores, GPA, and ECs are comparable to others who have gotten Nursing scholarships in the past. There's a lot of people applying for NROTC (or any ROTC!) scholarships with stats like yours or better, so we can't say for certain you will or you won't. But you've done your part, all you can do is wait now, right? Dont stress too much over something you have no influence on.

Agree that you have a shot. Make sure you have good backup plans. No nursing college programmers received advanced standing last year, to my knowledge. This says that the Navy thinks they already have enough nurses in the pipeline for the next couple years. Three and four years out, which is the timeframe you're looking at? Who knows? My own expectation is that fewer nursing scholarships will be given this year. I emphasize that this is only my opinion. Which brings me back to, in any case, have good backup plans.

Thanks for the replies! I know all I can do is be patient but waiting is dificult! Espeially when you dont know when boards could be because of them being pushed back. Oh well i guess. Just gotta keep waiting!

Well, there are only 2 nursing boards. The dates are closely held secrets, but If I had to guess they are in November and February, same as the Marine Option boards. You may not hear until late March or early April. I hope you don't wait that long but I wanted you to be aware of the possibility. And I know, having gone through it with my son, it's a very difficult wait. Hanging out here seems to help (at least I thought at the time).
