West Point is a highly reputed institution that has taught some of the best officers in the history of the U.S. Army. After watching a History Channel special on USMA, and from the rumors I have heard sometime in my past, is it true that an officer that WAS a West Point graduate has access to anything of the nation that is top secret? what about an officer that commissioned via ROTC?

Thanks!

Uh...no.

To expand on Scout's correct reply a bit....
You will go through various security clearances throughout your career. These are not necessarily easy things to get through. More and more people from your past are interviewed as the level of clearance increases. Regardless of the level of clearance you have, you can only see the information that is relevant for your job.

The only people that seem to have complete access to everything are folks like Snowden. :frown:

You do get access to the cave of gold under the mountain where you craft your class ring with the help of tree elfs which gives you instant access to your assignment officer and automatically puts you on the top ten percent of any OML...other than that, nothing cool.

Then Gollum steals it and the events of The Hobbit occur...I blame the elves, always the elves.

That reference just flew right over my head!

This is my favorite post.... Ever.

Secrets

I had a TS/SCI Poli while on active duty. Never came close to the "secrets" I learned at WP. lol Stop telling the unwashed our codes.

Yeah, and? I told you the answer. And the guy who talks about "secrets that graduates go to their graves with" was in my company. He's an Apache pilot, and he ain't talking about the Knights Templar. He's talking about secrets like "where I hid my booze" and "which cadet girl your roommate sneaked into the room one friday night."

That is probably one of those "secrets that graduates go to their graves with". And, as it says in the Bugle Notes, if they told ya they’d have to kill ya. If they could only harness that energy into something positive, like beating Navy…
