I am hoping to receive a NROTC Scholarship starting in the fall of 2014. I am a senior in high school, and have sent in my application earlier in October. I am a female applying for the nursing option. I am very involved in my school, running varsity cross country for two years. I was the girl's captain one of those years. I was the manager for varsity track. I am currently a member of the varsity cheer team. I have a 3.86 GPA unweighted, and a 4.1 GPA weighted. I have taken five AP classes. I am ranked number 6 in my class. I am the president of the Student 2 Student Club for two years, secretary of Interact club, a member of choir, a member of National Honor Society for two years, and a representative for my senior class in student council. I have also completed many hours of volunteer work through these clubs and other church activities. I believe the officer interview went well. Will I have a chance of receiving this scholarship?

You have a shot, especially if you are still running cross country (or did this year). Make sure you have a plan B though. Last year nursing students who were not on scholarship we're not allowed to proceed to the advanced course (rising juniors). This was because the nursing students already on scholarship were sufficient to meet the Navy's needs. Things may be different for your class year, or they may not, but one is always wise to be prepared with a plan B.

Which schools are on your list?

Thank you for the information!
My schools that I have applied for include
1. Jacksonville University
2. University of Maine
3. Florida State University
4. Purdue University
5. Pennsylvania State University
I have already applied to my top four schools and I am waiting to hear if I have been accepted.
