Hi everyone. I just found out that I received an appointment to the CGA. The Naval Academy has always been and will continue to be my first choice. I am planning on sending an email to my AO this weekend to send him my 1st quarter grades, some new leadership responsibilities that I have taken, and my new PFE scores since they all have improved and I feel that all of this will add to my application.

The question is would it be a good idea to tell my AO for the Naval Academy that I have received an appointment to the CGA, or do they not even care?

Also, I have read some threads about being 3Q'd but I don't think I understand it fully. Right now I am physically qualified and close to becoming medically qualified. We just had one problem but DODMERB is clearing it up. Would it be out of order to ask my AO if I am scholastically qualified, or should I just wait for him to notify me?

Lastly, if I am 3Q'd, does that mean I get an appointment if I get a nomination?

Thanks for your help.

I'll let others address the rest, but being 3Q'ed does not mean you will get an appointment if you get a nomination. About 5-6,000 applicants will be 3Q'ed with noms. Obviously only 1000+ will get appointments.

I can tell you for sure that the NA doesn't care that you got accepted by the CGA or any other school for that matter. When my son received the scholarship and the CGA appointment, he contacted his AO and the response was that it mattered not. I think it was completely coincidental that he received a LOA from the NA a few weeks later.

Seems that DS is leaning towards accepting the CGA appointment instead of the USNA, but only time will tell for sure.

Best of luck to you, and congrats on the CGA appointment!

Congrats! May I ask how you found out? Call? Updated portal?
This can be a long process. Nice to have heard early from one!

I got a call from my Admissions Officer stating that I have been given an appointment their to play baseball. Im really pumped but the Navy is still my first choice. Even though I can play baseball at CGA, I'm taking my future into consideration and eventually, I want to go submarines. We'll see!!!
