:Does anyone know what I can do to prepare for the USAFA in 7th grade???

Wow... 7th grade? Well, all I can say now is learn about the AFA as much as you can. The more you know, the more informed a decision you can make. Also, work on your academics. Make sure that you do well enough in 7th and 8th so that you can take challenging classes in High School.

Why the “Wow” is 7th grade too early or something?

Absoluetly not! If appointed you'd be in the C/O 2018 (that's where my "wow" came from)... You're just a leap ahead of many other kids who want to go to the academy. Its awesome though!

its impressive that's all. i have an appointment for the class of 2013, and i've only really known that i want to go to USAFA for the past year. 2 years ago i would never have believed you if you told me that's where i was going to go. I think its great you are interested this early. just act like you were trying to get into an ivy league school, but make sure you get onto athletic teams too. finally, being a leader in a few teams/clubs/what have you is weighed more heavily than just being a member in more. neither is bad, but leadership is most definitely better. good luck!:thumb:

:thumb:Sorry I just misunderstood you're “Wow” thanks for the quick response

well i think at least. i can't really speak for semper. but thats my view at least...

i say wow as in... wow, you make me feel old now.

some things you can do:
-start learning as much as possible about the service academies
-start learning as much as possible about rotc
-prepare yourself to excel academically and physically in high school
-community service

Thanks for all the info if anyone else has any other things please post it!

I second that wow. You impress me. Y0u d0N7 wr1t3 l1k3 7hI5 LiK3 I D1d 1N 7tH Gr@dE.

Take a tour of the academy? Contact your ALO and impress him? haha

Ditto on the previous posts.

Something else I suggest is to not be afraid to ask for help from your parents and school counselors. If you prove to them that you are serious now, then you will have no trouble planning out exactly what you need to do for the future when you are actually applying. You may even want to try and contact your local ALO to ask for their advice on the things that you can be doing now to get you prepared. Finally start building a solid resume now. Pick one or two leadership activities (Boy Scouts, CAP, JROTC, etc.), one or two sports (team sports are preferable and try to work up to a team captain or manager position, something to with leadership), and two or three volunteer activities (you can do more, but pick one or two activities to be involved with on a regular basis.)

So what it boils down to is:
-You are starting young
-You have 3 years ahead of you to prepare
-DON'T WASTE THIS TIME IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT GOING!!!!!!!!

Good luck, and I hope that you will eventually get appointed. :thumb:

i know you're young, but DON'T PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET!!!!!!!!!!!!! can't say that enough. just an example; i'm shooting for class of 2013 to either USNA, USAFA, or USMA but i can't guarantee things will turn out the way i want them to. apply for ROTC as well!!!! all the paperwork for ROTC and academies sucks, but at least you have the options.

my dad got accepted to west point when he was in high school, applied for a AROTC scholarship as well, but went to west point instead. found out west point wasn't a good fit b/c of some honor issues, and had to claw his way back just to become a journeyman electrician. he was hoping to be a four star general, and he didn't see this coming.

don't be that person left out! please! good luck to you on your journey!!! :thumb::thumb:

April or May of '08, when I saw my ALO speak on behalf of an alumni from my high school at an awards banquet. He's a 4 dig now. The speech talked about all of the benefits of the Academy, so I looked into it more and fell in love with it. Just think what may have been if I decided not to attend the banquet. I definitely wouldn't be working out as much as I am now, lol.
:muscles2:

Heck, I only figured out I wanted to go to the Academy about a year ago. Lucky for me, I did everything to prepare myself for a good college anyway, and now I have an appointment.

I started to look at it in middle school (7th and 8th grade)
I really started after my ALO made a presentation to my CAP squadron 2 years ago

I have known I wanted to join the AF forever, like, as long as I can remember

Ya, if I could have done one thing earlier it would be to contact my ALO. Ask questions, that will impress them a lot.
