So Naval Academy only looks at Math and English for the ACT? Or will they still look at everything?

I got:
ACT
English:30
Math:29
Reading:31
Science:30

But they only have English and Math recorded... So does that mean I won't have a 30 ACT in their eyes?

You do not have a 30. You have English:30 and Math:29
They don't look at composite and supposedly double the value of the math score.

Okay so when they say Verbal score it is just English?

According to everything I've seen on here, and my son's experience - yes, just Math and English. He earned his best English score on his 1st (and 3rd) ACT, and it remains unchanged on the portal even though he has since improved his writing and reading scores quite a bit. It STILL puzzles me that USNA insists that you take the optional Writing section, but then say they ignore the score - maybe they're looking at the scores to see if it correlates with success at the Academy before they decide to officially include it in candidate's files.

Quick Additional Info...

Our DS was told by the BGO that although it is not directly asked for, admissions wants to see the writing section. DS did not question it, he just too the written.

I think this info may be on the web site as well but you will have to do some asking from some more informed people our look a little deeper at the web site. Look for a follow-up to what I have said maybe someone else can add in.

hope this helps...

In any case, plenty of colleges (re: backup plans) require it... and also disregard it. I think it's all intended to keep the experiment going until they can figure out if its a worthwhile indicator (speaking of college in general).

Admissions board will compare the writing score with the submitted essay--a check on authenticity.
