60 Minutes Dec 8, 2013

Saw this last night. Unbelievable story.

I remember reading something about this several years ago, wondering if it were true.

Thanks for the link. I read the book and am re-reading it now. As I read it I recalled portions I had heard on the news as it happened. I certainly remember the helicopter going down. It was big news. The book is awesome and although I am looking forward to the movie I don't believe it can measure up. There were points in the book where I was literally sobbing (but I'm getting old and tear up at the drop of a hat). One just can't say enough about the toughness and bravery of these men, especially Lt. Mike Murphy. It's certainly a book anyone interested in the Special Warfare community should read.

I had read about it purely in the context of his rescue by the Pashtun tribesman. The tribal code required him to render aid and protection to the wounded SEAL. The Taliban Gov't had tried to use the Pashtun code of hospitality to explain their protection of OBL.

I knew nothing of what led up to that moment, nor of the connection to the loss of SEAL comrades and the flight crew.

The book is on its way.

Time to move into the 21st century and purchase eBooks! It could be there by now!
