My DS has done a fine job of keeping me at bay until today... He is now asking for advice. Over the last few months he made contact with the MOC's. In Nov. he got the Senator nomination.

He called the congressmans office to let them know (he thought it would be nice to allow others a chance.) They said thank you for being so upfront but they still wanted to interview him. That same week he got a letter in the mail from the Congressional office saying he was in the mix and that they would be in touch to set-up an interview date. This was the 2nd week of Nov.

Two months ago at the academy day the congressional office said the interviews would be the 9th or 10th of Dec. Last week at a BGO alumni dinner there was another kid at out table also waithing to be contacted by the same MOC.

On Friday (12/6) my DS called the office but his point of contact was not there so he left a message and the reason for his call. My DS just called me with some concern over not knowing what to do. He is wondering if he should call again or wait.

I'm thinking of telling him to wait but I'm not really sure how this all plays out.

Thoughts please...

I feel I should know this, but as I recall your DS does not have an LOA... but then I'm a feeble old man who doesn't even go deer hunting anymore. :biggrin: Assuming I'm correct, your DS should seek out every nomination he can get. It gives him a chance to compete on each slate for which he has a nomination to win an appointment prior to moving to the national waiting list. He can only be appointed from one slate, so others will still have their chance.

If my feeble memory is failing me, and he has an LOA, then he's done and you can leave it up to him.

EDIT: On re-reading your post I guess I'm not clear on what your asking. If he hasn't been given a time or date for an interview and he's wondering about that, then by all means he should call until he gets a response.

Excellent...

Thank you feeble old kinnem!!:shake:

In regard to the deer...came up empty to date:unhappy:.

I'll tell him to call...

I would leave it alone for now. It is only Monday! For all you know the POC was on leave last Thursday/Friday and maybe even today to go and spend the Xmas holidays shopping or with family out of state. They may not be in the office at all! I don't know how their staff works, but if their end of yr is Dec. 30, they may be using up leave before they lose it.

OR

Maybe they set it back by a week or two because boards are not one on one interviews, thus the tentative date was this week, but because the members scheduling fit better for the 20th, they have yet to contact them.
~~~ Remember the nom slate is not due until the end of January.
You don't know. It appears that others at the function less than a week ago also did not hear from them yet.
The only thing I would do is send a polite email, saying something along the lines:
I received a letter dated Nov. XX.... interviews would be Dec 9th. However, currently, I am not in receipt of an interview appointment. Friday, Dec 6th, I left a VM.
I am would like the Honorable, Cong. XYZ to know that I very interested in pursuing a nomination from him at this time.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Happy Holidays.
Best Regards,
Since he got a letter and also was told they wanted to interview him regardless, I would tell him that calling again is appropriate. I would have him express to the MOC staffer that he wants to confirm the interview date based on the letter he received.
Every nomination, regardless of LOA or LOE, is important - if not for your son, for someone else who might be on the same MOC slate as he is on. In our district last year, at least 4 candidates all received WP appointments - probably from different MOC slates, and possibly one or two from the NWL. Help the admissions team. Pursue multiple nominations.
