Alright, hello again folks...I'm happy to say that I have received a Presidential nomination in addition to one from one of my Senators, and am waiting to hear back from the other Senator and my Congressman...Also I am DODMERB qualified!

However, my highest SAT Scores are: 670 writing, 700 reading... and 540 math...:frown:

My ACT's are 25 Math and English, 24 S/R, and 32 Reading. Combined English/Writing is 25.

Also I have a 3.27/4.3 at a very top notch high school...very highly ranked...

I did submit my application in time for EA...

I am just wondering, is there anything whatsoever that I can do now to really show the board how badly I want this, anything?

Truly, I appreciate all answers, and am grateful for this site!

Thanks folks!

Hi...let me give just one guys perspective on what you've posted. I'm going to assume (always a dangerous thing) that since you don't mention them and for the sake of argument, your EC's are where they need to be e.g. leadership positions, sports participation, etc. Having said that, you really need to get those test scores up.

There is still time before everything needs to be submitted but you need to avail yourself of every avenue you can to improve those scores. Get a tutor, enroll in one of the learning centers that specialize in helping students with this, etc. Whatever it takes. You're at the lower end of this and should try your very best since clearly you've expressed a heartfelt desire about "how bad you want this". Finally, you didn't mention what type of academic courses you're taking...are they AP, Honors and in what subjects?

I'm not sure I'm sharing with you things you already know but from the outside looking in that's my perspective. There are many on this forum that can speak to this with much more in-depth analysis on your situation and I hope they weigh in as well to help provide you a min-road map on how to get this done.

Best of luck to you in the endeavor!

Well in terms of leadership, I'm the VP of a couple of clubs at my school, went to Boys State, work 15 hours a week at a job, Mitchell Award in CAP, SGA treasurer, and sports varsity letters, etc.

I do IB, have taken and passed 7 AP class's in high school, did dual enrollment, and all that... Never have I taken a class lower than honors in high school.

In terms of the test scores...I can't get them up, because all the next dates are too late for the deadline...

So what can I do?

If I'm reading correctly you said you submitted your application for EA?

In that case, I would say all you can do now is wait for that Jan. 15 date to hear back. Keep your grades up, stay fit, stay active in your clubs, and don't get into any trouble. :)

For ACT's that's correct. However, if you go to the SAT web site, it indicates that there will be a test on January 25th for which you have 14 days left to register for. See if you can find out from USAFA if taking it on that date and the subsequent submission of those scores will meet their deadline. At USMA the application process closes on February 28th and they will take those scores so it would behoove you to find out about AFA.

I'm with Sydney. You really should try retaking the SAT. If you got that math score up to around mid-600s your scores would really be great..

Register for the January SAT if you can, and study like crazy over winter break.

All right young man, I just did some of your homework for you (you can thank me later).
USFA completion date for submission of the packet is January 31st. However, admissions tells me that that WILL accept the scores taken on that date with the hope that they can get the scores by February 15th. You can pay an extra $35 or so to RUSH those scores directly to the academy when you submit their code etc and that will ensure they recieve them. They also say that even if, for whatever reason, they don't get them by then, it will be OK as they won't begin to review these otherwise completed packets till then. If want your own confirmation on all of this, just pick up a phone and call them. (Half of all knowledge is just knowing where to find it)

Bottom line....take the test, expedite the scores for speedy delivery, you have over a month now to make it happen.

This should cheer up your day...

Thank you thank you thank you!

I'm definitely happy to hear this news, and I will get a tutor/study/do whatever it takes to get that math score up!

This definitely has brightened my day, and I am very thrilled!

If you look like the whole package but lack the skills academically, then you may be considered for the USAFA Prep School or any other prep program.

The decision to spend an extra year at the Academy (sort of). In my situation I really didn't have a choice. It was either go to the Prep School or not go to any school.

In hindsight, the year was one of the best of my life. The school was small enough to get to know everyone, instructors were well qualified, and I felt very prepared to start my freshman year at the AFA.

There is no way to apply for a prep program, it is only offered by admissions. Good luck!

Akrogan...I sent you a private message with the AFA contact people and numbers. Check it out.
