I posted this on another thread, but the only answer was a clerical error. My DS received his nomination for USMA, but on his portal there are 2 nomination lines from the same MOC. Does anyone have any insight. Is it possible that one is the principle nomination?

No idea -- have your DS call or e-mail admissions and ask. Perhaps this MOC submitted a slate of 20 for 2 opens spots (and submitted your DS's name twice)? I'm not even sure if that's possible.

Yes, that's exactly what it means. So evidently your kiddo is on two of those slates... at least that would be my assumption. Otherwise it can only be some clerical error.

If your MOC has 3 open slots to the same SA and is submitting 3 slates this year, candidates in a future year may find themselves without a slot.
Nominating for 2 open slots happens every so many years due to the math of 5 slots over the course of 4 years. However, that same math means that, if you fill 3 vacancies (of 5) in one year, there will come a year that there are potentially no vacancies.

Hopefully, your MOC with 3 vacancies is nominating for 2 and holding one back for the year when he/she won't have a "natural" opening. BTW, for those who are curious, the main reason an MOC can have 3 slots is that one or more of the mids currently slotted to him/her left before graduation.

My DS will call the MOC tomorrow, but it sounds as if she is holding back the one opening and ensuring that she has 2 in this year. From my understanding, it sounds as if she submitted 2 slates with DS getting principal on one and alternate on the other. I will post as soon as I have confirmation. We were told to expect a call from MOC this weekend, but as of yet crickets.

Why would a MOC list him as an alternate on one slate if she has listed him as a principal on another slate? If your DS has a principal nom and is 3Q, he will get an appointment. No reason for an additional nom from the same MOC to the same SA, right? Am I missing something?
It would be different if this MOC listed your DS as principal for one SA and alternate for a different SA.

I got the same showing on my portal 2 green checks two same rows from the same MOC. I also have been nominated to USAFA and got the letter Dec 19. When I visited the portal yesterday, I found out that I received a nomination to USMA 31JAN. No letter received unlike with USAFA.
