Need a Little Insight; We're Confused

Need some insight from the team here....BS received MOC nom from Congressman today for both USMA (LOE and 3'qd) and USAFA (which he hasn't even completed the app for and may not). The puzzling part is that he has an USNA LOA but didn't get a nom for Navy. (Also, has not heard yet from either Senator)

Spoke with our extremely nice and helpful BGO who suggested we contact the MOC SA Coordinator to find out why (which we will do next week) but can someone shed an additional light on this baffling news and anything else that can be done?

Thanks much!

The exact same thing happened to DS last year who had LOA from USNA as well. He received nominations from USAFA and USMA from one of our MOC's. Turned out, USMA was a mistake. DS selected USNA and USAFA as first and second in the app process (and USMA was not selected at all).

Do you know which academies were listed on this MOC's app? If only USNA and USMA were listed, then maybe the USAFA nom is actually a USNA nom as was the case for DS last year. I recall I was a little flabbergasted last year when I saw the letter, but a quick call from DS to the MOC coordinator cleared it all up.

I really hope the same is true for you. Also, in some states, MOCs talk to each other in order to share the nominations to more candidates. So it is possible that you have a nom from one of your US Senators. Senator nominations are more competitive and I recall we heard from them later (cannot remember exactly when).

I have no idea what will happen but really hope for the best for you...

Thanks so much....at the time he initially submitted his application to the Congressman in early August he was asked to list his preferences as 1,2, 3. He had USMA, USNA and USAFA respectively. At the time, he was actively applying to all three. As more time and research went into it, he began to lose interest in USAFA.....got the LOE from USMA in early November and then the LOA to USNA in mid-November.

Its been a tough back and forth evaluation of both and it was mentioned in his Congressman interview as they knew about the LOA.

The Senatorial interviews took place 4 to 6 weeks before he received the LOA but they were notified and we do know that the two Senatorial offices do coordinate but not sure if they are also in contact with the Congressman).

USMA would be great, don't misunderstand me, but he's been really leaning toward USNA especially since the LOA.

Let's wait until next week when the senators will be sending out their letters and see what what happens. Thanks for your good wishes.

I'm not sure I would wait. Sometimes a mistake cannot be cleared up if one waits too long. I don't think you have anything to lose by making a phone call now.

Agree. There is nothing to be lost by making that phone call asap.
