Hey guys,

I was wondering if you knew if there is some sort of SEAL program at Kings Point, and if the process to becoming a SEAL at KP is similar to USNA.

Thank You for all your help:thumb:

SEAL is a Navy program, and no such training is offered at KP. However, you can go active with Navy after graduation from KP, and pursue SEAL training. You may even be able to pursue some "pre Seal" training during the very few summer off days you have while at KP, but this is also not offered by/at KP.

Various NROTC and USMMA midshipmen have been given the opportunity to participate in USNA's SEAL and EOD screeners in the fall and spring.

NROTC midshipmen can participate in the 1/C SEAL cruise, but I'm not sure about USMMA.

By "Navy program" are you referring to a program exclusively offered by the Naval Academy? or are you referring to the branch?

Kings Point midshipmen are members of the U.S. Navy Reserve. they're all in the Navy. there is a SEAL mentoring program at Kings Point which allow the midshipmen to participate in various events held at the USNA.

I contacted a former Navy Seal specifically to ask him about Kings Point graduates who go active duty, particularly those who to the SEALs, in order to get his opinion about how Kings Point prepares midshipmen for the active duty route.

He said [paraphrasing] that he thought KP was a great prep for the military and that he knows many people that went active duty and ha e been very successful. He knows guys that went SEALs and were successful, even a couple guys that worked their way into DEVGRU (Seal Team Six).

I would not worry about being prepare for active duty from KP. Though the system leaves a lot more on you to chart your own course, you are not at all disadvantaged if you work hard.

When I visited this past month I met the two Plebes of the class of 2017 who are part of the SEAL mentoring program. A lot of their upperclassmen were out at sea, so they were pretty much it. But they've kept on, and that's kind of how it is.

ReconPing, I am sending you a private message, I am one of the "upperclassmen out at sea" that you mentioned.

we just had a KP grad who went straight into the SEAL program come talk to us. He was in for 11 or so years. He retired as a LCDR.
we also had two guys graduate last year who went straight to the SEAL program, im not sure where they are now or if they made it.
