One last question - application complete

Hello All!
As of 1/6/14, my app is totally complete, as my CFA results were uploaded today. Just a few questions regarding this.

Should I receive any official confirmation that my app is complete? To the best of my knowledge, all components are fulfilled.

More importantly, can anyone provide a rough estimate from packet complete to when I should receive an admission decision?

Lastly, my transcripts were sent over 12/10/13, updated to the first quarter. Will semester grades be sent, or just final grades (if admitted)?

Thank you folks, and best of luck to everyone!

You won't receive any notification of a completed app, you will know if everything is completed on your online portal. You will probably receive your admissions decision in late February or later like the majority of applicants unless you have an LOA. To be honest, I don't think you need to send your quarter grades (or even semester grades), I didn't and I've already been appointed. As far as I know you only need to submit final grades if appointed so you're all set until then.

Thank you so much! I'm really excited, I've gotten some great college acceptances so far but I am completely committed to USNA if appointed. I'll keep the thread updated with whatever news I hear.

So, most likely late February? I know decisions are handed out as late as April 15, but would you say earlier is a bit more common?

That's awesome, I think late February is the earliest for most regular applicants though. I'm sure the appointment thread from last year can give you a good idea of when you might get one but you might be one of those people who has to wait until April 15 so don't be disappointed if you don't hear back early. Best of luck!

I assume that you have a nomination, correct? I don't know whose nomination you have earned, and MOCs can use different nomination methods. But something like 70% of MOCs use an unranked slate. That means that they will submit up to 10 nominees for every appointment vacancy, and allow Admissions the discretion to select the best one. So with that said, keep in mind that Admissions may be reviewing your application alongside 10 other candidates competing for that same appointment. In order to select the best candidate, all 10 of those applications need to be complete. So you may in effect be waiting on the slowest of your competitors.

The cliche is for appointments is Mass Mailing March. The majority of candidates typically find out in March.

Yes. I do have a nom, as I'm actually the principal nominee from my district (one of the few to rank them). Would this influence the timeframe at all?

Thanks!

If you are the principal nominee and are fully qualified (CFA, medical, scholastic), it typically takes about two weeks from the time you are fully qualified or USNA receives notice of your nom from the MOC -- whichever comes later -- for you to receive an appointment.

Is there anything that shows if you are 3 Q'd? Would my DS be notified if his fitness scores weren't up to par? He has his principal nomination and we saw it on his online portal so I am hoping, as someone on here said, he gets his BFE within the next few weeks.

Nothing shows if you're 3 Q'ed. You can try contacting the RD -- not sure if they're giving out this info but they might.

They will notify you if you have failed your CFA so, if you took it more than a week ago and weren't notified, you probably passed. Also, your BGO can tell you if you passed. He/she CANNOT tell you if you're scholastically qualified.

You will know whether or not you're medically qualified -- should be on the portal.

Thank you USNA1985. My app appears to be complete, my nom is uploaded, and I received a letter from DODMERB stating I am qualified medically. So should it be approximately two weeks till I receive a decision?

If you are the principal NOM and 3Q'd there is no decision....you are in!

All you are waiting for is the BFE to show up in the mail. Congrats!

Thank you ma'am! Hopefully the BFE will arrive shortly!

One question (probably best answered by a current/former applicant)

I received a letter stating I am medically qualified, should it appear on my app page?

Thank you...did his CFA months ago so I guess he is fine. He is medically qualified according to the results he got back. I would think he is academically qualified but stranger things have happened. Thanks for your help on here.

Skelly66,

No. I have been medically 'Qualified' by DodMERB for at least 2 months and it won't show any different on our portals. It always takes you to the DodMERB site to see your status. Currently waiting to hear back from the Academy too, although I am not a principal nomination, just regular. No LOA.

MDN18 - no LOA here either, really excited to hear back soon though. How long has your app been in?

I'm also playing the waiting game unfortunately. It is killing me not knowing!!! How do you guys think your chances are?

I feel confident, but really anxious. I know there are tons of qualified people our age who apply. I feel like the type of nomination I received will help me a bit, and I'm just trying to stay sane waiting it out!

Skelly66,

December 30th :frown: a little late but that's my own fault. Excited to hear back from Senators about any possible noms. Already have one from my representative. Here in PA you can get both.
Not sure how I feel about my chances...academics are great. Varsity athletics all 4 yours but with only 1 letter so far...ECA's are pretty good but not too many leadership spots - team captain once for 9th grade XC. I probably will take SAT's one last time too, ugh.

If you're the principal nom you are more than likely scholastically qualified, meaning you're guaranteed acceptance and will receive your appointment within the next few weeks. All you have to do now is wait for it to come in the mail and not worry about a thing.
