7 Sem Transcript Question

When candidates had to send in our last transcripts (only 6 semesters), it had to be signed, with class rank and all the good stuff. Will we have to do the same for the 7 semester transcripts or will we just be able to send it via Parchment?

I mailed admissions photocopies of my quarter 1 and quarter 2 report cards (no signature, class rank, etc., just says my grades and my name and address) and it has a green check mark on my portal and says 7 semesters received.

Alright thanks!

Hmmm, that is actually good to know. Our semester does not end until the end of January, and then it would most likely take a few more weeks for them to finalize class rank. I guess if DS sends a copy of his report card it would get there more quickly. However, if his class rank moves up, that would be good to have on there too.

Our school does not change class rank until the end of the year, but we don't get paper report cards. Not sure the screen shot off of powerschool is enough but I appreciate the info!

Last time I checked, you had to submit official 7th semester transcripts. Official can be Parchment or signed versions. Official is NOT report cards, screen shots of grades, etc. that may be enough to update your semester count, but there should be a note in your file that could hold up an offer from being sent. I imagine if it is like in past years, RCs will start sending out notices to those with only 6 semesters to send in their transcripts and/or let them know when their semester ends along with an ETA for the transcript.

In the end, you are best to communicate to your RC or FFR when your transcript is or will be sent and electronically send an unofficial copy to hold its place. Don't take chances with the deadline.

That makes complete sense. I do not know why they would put a green check mark though and list that I have 7 semesters submitted from my 7th semester report card. If that didn't fulfill the official need then you think they'd either not put a green check mark or they'd send you some kind of notice.

And this would be your first glimpse into the military lifestyle! SNAFU....

I would have anyone in doubt go check the Application Instructions that are posted to your portal - that is your notice of what you must submit. Since you should know what you've sent in, you should reasonably know if that 7 is for official or unofficial transcripts. Will WP take something else temporarily - yes. Why, because of the reasons that many will list like they can't get official ones in by the deadline because of their school's schedule. If they didn't mark the unofficial as 7, then I'm sure they'd be inundated with candidates (and parents) asking if they'd received them. Remember, this isn't Burger King.

Hate to bring this thread back, but it says 8th semester transcripts are also required, but being a month before r-day and months after accepting, will they actually require one to be sent?

Kid, if you're going to work for the military/government, you better learn early that ALL boxes must be checked. Boxes being checked is more important than right and wrong. ALL boxes must be checked. If a box isn't checked, the box checkers get all confused and they shut the system down. Even a General can't override the box checker mafia. Check the boxes. Don't ask questions. Just check the boxes. It may not make always make sense, but check ALL the boxes. Asking questions only delays the inevitable. If there is a box to be checked, you will eventually have to check it.

Well put! haha

BTW, in addition to the above comments, you should know that most colleges require this and can withdraw their acceptance should they so choose. Nothing special about USMA here.

Definite yes. I had to call to candidates and parents to make sure their 8th semester transcripts were in so their appointment won't be yanked.

Well thanks everybody, no slacking in calculus for this guy then.

Our graduation is 6/27 or some ridiculously late date in June....if DS gets an appointment, seems like that would be very hard to get in in time!

Your DS's school should work with you on it! In the words of my coach, "Champions find a way!" In other words, you will make it. :thumb:

I will make sure he plops himself in the guidance office after his last final! They should not need updated class rank at that point, which is what usually holds everything up. In fact I think this January is the final class rank anyhow, at least for our school.

Get a school official to send a letter to West Point stating such and a promise that it will be sent in as soon as possible.
