So my DS received a nomination from his California MOC a month ago. As it was not in the online portal yet, we called to inquire as to see if there are any issues. We were told by staff that they have until January 31st to submit and it will be submitted that day. Has anyone else run into their MOC delaying submitting to the academy like that?

My DS recieved his nomination letter on Tuesday 1/7 from CA -25 and the portal was updated the same day. That is unfortunate what you are going through as i think it would benefit USNA to know your son has recieved his nomination. Good luck!

Yes we have! DS received his nom from his Ohio MOC on Dec. 18th...same scenario, same phone call, same response... January 31st. Go figure.

I'd like to point out that just because a MOC has determined who some of the folks on their slate will be, it doesn't mean they have fleshed out the entire slate. They might very well still be sorting though it. Patience.

Didn't think about it that way. Thanks for the insight.

So our MOC has already sent letters out to the primary and unranked nominees. How can that change?

It shouldn't. I suppose that a candidate could decline his/her nomination. This could occur b/c he/she has an appointment through another source (Pres, another MOC). Or a candidate could w/draw because he/she is medically unqualified.

Not sure of the reason for the delay. However, as I repeatedly tell folks, MOCs do have until Jan. 31 to turn in their slates and no one can "make them" do it earlier if they don't want to.
