For those of us that had DD and DS in this pool it would be nice to know when others start hearing about applications submitted for EA II. Please note if they are an athlete to help with the flow of intel.

Word from another thread is they should be hearing prior to Christmas. It will be nice to hear either way as these kids at this level have many options and decisions to make.

I had an older DS apply to USNA and West Point and we had some tough calls to make under the gun in April with ROTC offers and scholarships that were time sensitive. He ended up accepting a full Army ROTC at a very good business school which was a great route to be offered. Have a plan B is the best advice we ever got from the process.

So post away and know that any information is good information.

My DS and I attended a Coast Guard meet and greet with current cadets and their parents as well as a few active duty officers last Friday in Rochester, NY. This was a great event for us as we got to speak to folks currently involved with the CGA. The admissions partners there said that the EA II candidates would probably not hear until Feb. The shutdown may add some time onto that. There were a couple of candidates who had just received their acceptances and they were EA 1's who applied in August.

I'm pretty sure that information (about EAII hearing by Christmas) is incorrect, and should have never been posted.

According to the USCGA website, EAI decisions will be rendered by Christmas, NOT EAII.

I can tell you that DS is EA1 and hasn't heard yet.
Hope this helps.

There was a post from OBjee not too long ago that said that the earliest you will hear about EAII decisions will be after Christmas.

Folks waiting for the call:
We got this advice a little late in the game for EA 1 but my DS took it and was never in doubt of when he was going to hear information on his application.

"Stick to your Admissions Officer like glue" he is your most reliable source for status on your app through the process. My DS's AO knew exactly when his app was going up for the CCEB and then the admissions board. The AO may have a lot of apps but they keep track of everyone, just ask. Use this time waiting wisely get your name and why you should be appointed in the heads of anybody in the CGA that could possibly have input on your app. Including the AO. He will be your advocate on that board fighting for you to be appointed. Communicate to coaches, professors whatever; show your interest! The squeaky wheel gets the grease in this game! And I heard that not only from other parents but from CGA alumni that went through just recently.
Bottom line, if your AO doesn't know you on a first name basis, your not talking to him/her enough.
Good luck,
Texmech

The first round of Early Action Group Two (EA2) decisions may be out prior to Christmas, but probably not until early January. All EA2 applicants will be notified of their admissions decision by 2/1.

DS received the call from the tennis coach yesterday.

Congrats Tennisdad!

I would imagine that EA2 decisions are starting to go out. We are getting more additions to our 2018 parents Facebook group.

Best of luck to all of those still stalking the mailbox!

EA II Call

DD got the call this afternoon from her admissions rep. This follows her getting her Principal to USMMA where DS is a Plebe. She is very blessed and is agonizing the decision.

Congratulations to all of those that are receiving this honor.

How are candidates usually notified that they have received an appointment? I see phone calls from MOC and phone calls from admissions officers. Is that the usual practice? We are all over the mailbox. Could it be posted on his portal or could he be notified by email? Thanks in advance for your responses!

If it follows our EA1 experience then an email informing you that a decision has been posted on your portal.
I did read of others here getting calls from their admission officer.

One year ago, DD was EAII and received a call from her admissions officer on January 14th with an offer of a full appointment. Her portal was not updated until a day or two later. Of course, things change from year to year.

Well, for sure, the notification from CGA won't come from a MOC. Mostly, it comes first from a phone call from their Admissions Officer, or Coach, or even an email saying a decision was available in the Bears Den. (portal). Then, follows the official "BFE" with the appointment certificate. I wouldn't say a phone call happens 100% of the time, but in many cases yes.

Good luck to all those still waiting!

My DS (EA2) got a call from the tennis coach on Jan. 9th. He received an email on the 13th congratulating him on the appointment along with an AEP invitation. Other than the AEP's having been added to his Bear's Den Portal events, nothing else on the portal has changed. The box for Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board Review Complete is still unchecked. So I don't know when they get around to updating that.

DS got a call from his AO for EA1 Change in his Bear's Den status happened a couple of days later.

Has anyone else in the EAII pool heard back yet?

Yes, there have been several from EA2 that have received appointments. The date that all applicants should hear is 31 Jan.

Good luck!
