I found out today that I have been selected to attend boys state. Can I list that on my questionnaire as "Boys State Attendee" or no because I haven't gone yet?

Edit: Also if approved, when will I receive access to my "candidate kit"?

I just finished filling out the candidate questionnaire and it says on my candidate portal, "This evaluation will not begin until approximately July 1, 2014 at the earliest for most candidates to USMA 2019." So I don't think we have access until early July at the earliest if qualified as an applicant.

Don't know about your Boys State question.

Have either of you been able to move onto the second part of the SLE application? I finished the candidate questionnaire and logged into my candidate profile, but it is saying that the application window for SLE is still closed.

Nope; I'm getting the same thing. I suppose admissions is just a little behind since it just opened for us (or was supposed to).

I just finished applying and exploring my portal as well. Seeing the same thing as everyone else. Best bet: get some sleep and check tomorrow :) congrats to all the 2019 applicants!

SLE advantage...

One of the nice advantages about SLE is you get to open your portal a month before everyone else does. This will be the beginning of getting SOEs, essays, ACt/SATs and submitting everything you have that you have worked so hard to make yourself stand out! You are special!!

After my DS attended Boys State, he contacted WP admissions via email and he had to email a copy of his Boy State certificate that he received as proof of attendance.

Just to reiterate what tugboat said, if you attend SLE, your portal opens early (mine actually ended before the junior school year ended so I was able to ask teachers for recommendations before they left for summer). Realize that West Point doesn't have rolling admissions any longer so completing your application early is not as important as it has been in the past. As long as you have everything turned in by September or October (I am referring to the CO 2019 Application), you will be able to compete for things like Letters of Assurance/Encouragement within your region.

Get-R-dun....

Its still very important to finish your application as soon as possible. Case in point: Last year Class of 2017,first wave of BFEs were mailed out before the application dead line!!

Application

It is very important to get your application in ASAP. You will not be scheduled for a DODMED until your complete a certain % if not all before they schedule your medical. The sooner you get your medical the sooner you don't have to worry about a medical waiver. However, should you need a waiver you will have more time to deal with getting one. Plus, the world is not perfect. Your file could get screwed up. It may take time to get things cleared up. Don't gamble with your future. Plus, it says something when you can walk into your MOC interview and tell them you are complete with your application and have been cleared medically.
