Did I blow it?

I am an applicant for the class of 2018. I was told that the application deadline was February 28th for applicants to West Point. I attended SLE and completed my file except for the CFA. I was injured last semester in football and it prevented me from completing my CFA. I have fully recovered and was told that I could take it now. Seeing all these acceptances have me becoming worried sick. Someone from my congressional district has already gotten into the academy. Have I blew my chances?

P.S. I've already received a nomination from my MOC in TX-02

No, the deadline is January 31, so you still have time. I assume you have a competitive nomination vs. principle? Take it ASAP. If you have not already reviewed the max and mean values for the CFA do so before taking it. There is no rule on how many times you can take it with out submitting scores, but you only get once chance to submit. Make it count.

no.

my son will be taking his CFA tomorrow at 8am. Last summer he was in a back brace for 12 hours a day and then PT. Then football (where he carries more weight than normal as a lineman) and a state championship that pushed his wrestling season back. So we are just getting to it now and yes, I have anxiety about it but we will beat the deadline so I am sure he (and you) will be fine.

good luck!

Not necessarily but you better get your CFA complete. If you made it into SLE, you should be rather competitive.

How well did SLE go? You obviously didn't pass the CFA there, but have you improved your file otherwise? Are you going to be able to better on the CFA now than you did then?

And, if you were injured bad enough to not complete the CFA, are you truly medically qualified? You have to update DoDMERB for any significant changes in your health after your exam. You may find that you are going to require a medical waiver, and if that is the case, you really need to get to work finishing the CFA and updating your medical information. Do NOT just decide that since you are better now you do not need to update them. If you are appointed, and they find out something happened any time to include on R-Day during the medical checks, they could send you home.

I thought official deadline for a complete application was 2/28? DS still has to do CFA as well, and it's been delayed a few times bc of illness and schedule conflicts with phys Ed teacher.

Sent Home...

I heard a few were sent home on R-Day last year.

Sent Home

Did not hear of people being sent home. 47% fail first PT test. 10% fail the second one. WP is thinking about an "0 Day" in the future. Bring all appointees in early with a hundred or so alternates. Give the test and make replacements on the spot.

PT

I said "PT" because I think it's the APFT, but not sure if they may also do pull ups in addition to the other three events.

Did not hear that. On R-Day the new cadets did an assessment of their physical readiness so that the cadre would know what they needed to work on before the APFT. Not doing any PT before Beast is preparing to fail.

Show up ready to perform to averages on the CFA and you will be fine.
